HOW the F did this thread morph from stupid commercials that are 'filler' ads to this?
You people scare me.

Really? Seriously?

Come and work on MY side of this equation, 'k? How would YOU handle FCC public file requirements?

Oh and making sure YOUR employees were paid...put yourself in the shoes of a media outlet owner, for fun anyway.

I'd like to see what YOU would do.

Well, some more variety in the commercials would be nice. A broad group of advertisers instead of pumping the same old commercials over and over. The commercials get so annoying that they pass a certain threshold and people STAY AWAY from that product just because of the inane repetition they have been subjected too. That is not good advertising (or, mental torture != good advertising strategy).

....speaking of TV commercials ;D I don't know about yooz guyz, but I am sick and tired of the Viagra/Cialis commercials. I mean, hello, does every guy today now have ED??? :dontknow:

I hate the Guy with the Crap eating Grin !

Talk about an uncalled for commercial !

And what about the Commercial Showing Poor kids
in Africa or someplace.
The Commercial must last at least 3 Full Minutes
while she tells a Story about the Kid.

AH If he's so Bad off Why arn't the TV crew & Her
Doing something for him instead of asking others to.

And also that SPCA Commercial where they play Sad music to
make it look like some Dogs are Sad, While they
try to make the Kids Beg their Parents to send money in.
why don't they tell the truth they paid $10,000 for the Commercial
And need Money For Gas to put the Old dogs
to sleep. because they won't let anyone have them.

The Insurance Company Commercial where you
"Name your own Price ? "

Bet If I Contact them and say
get me a Policy for $12.00 a year they Cant !
Bet they can't even match the $24 a month
for auto insurance I'm paying now.

isn't it odd how those other countries children have totally American names???? I think not...most don't even have the same alphabet to name a child that.....What about the poor children in America...no one ever helps them....are they afraid someone will make them totally accountable for the money and food instead of it setting in a warehouse so that some drug lord can come and take? or the foreign government? Believe me the people will never see that food.

What would Hold more Weight with Me T

is if instead of spending all that time trying
to make people Sad for these Kids,

Show a Big Table in the Middle of town
with all the Kids sitting there Chowing Down on
More food then they could Possabley eat.

Show them wearing American type Clothes & Shoes.

show them Laughing & Playing on Swings, Bicycles,
and sitting in Class rooms Learning.

then say This is All Because of Donations !

Then give an 800 #

Has anybody noticed that "BOB", who was making his wife happy now, no longer has a wife, and has a string of women lined up?

Guess Bob's "new found confidence" and new "spring in his step" - sprung right away from his marriage.

B

Next thing they will Show him with his
New Boyfriend.

Then I Will Consider getting rid of My TV >:(

Mr. O hates that one SPCA commercial!!!!

He doesn't like any of them, but that one by Sarah McLachlan with the music that goes:

In the arms of the angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

That commercial gets to him - he will walk away.

I have to admit that, it is an effective combination of music, song and visuals of sad beaten faces.

But, I don't appreciate it, and neither does he. I used to like that song.

We, like many others, try to do our part for animals, and we do donate (but not because of the commercial), and I volunteer my time to help spay and neuter pets (our locality has a free to spay/neuter truck that goes around, but they always need volunteers) - and have even paid for others. But, gee whiz.

Yup, I thoroughly hate that one. This type of advertising does nothing but make me never want anything to do with them. I don't need the guilt trip. Like others, we do what we can when we can.

All I gotta say is that it really steams my clams when watching a "family" program in prime time with my 11 year old son and a commercial comes on saying "If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours see your doctor immediately", and a woman is throwing herself all over a guy.....

I was thinking of creating a website that would feature irritating commercial's products that we could boycott and provide info for all who would like to join in on the smack-down. There is a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11191980465) for this and another site too (http://www.experienceproject.com/groups/Will-Boycott-Your-Company-If-I-Hate-Your-Commercials/40189). Oh well, it's obvious we're not the only ones and it proves my previous assertion that the bad, overly played commercials actually do more harm than good for the products they push.

There was a time when - they got on this "good commercial" kick, and most of the commercials were better than the programs.

We even taped commercials to send to our family overseas, they were so funny and good.

Now, I can't believe I'm still paying for TV.

You don't get it....these so called 'offensive' commercials are a true projection of YOU the 'consumer'

SO creating a website to showcase them is giving 'them' exactly what hey desire...more "air" time.

that's why you're an easy market target...lol

The shrinks that help create these commercials with the ad men know what they're doing; for instance, making a commercial so offensive or stupid that it sticks in your mind. What they fail to grasp (or they simply don't care) is that there are millions of us with IQs past the upper bound of their demographic, target audience, or whatever. This trick doesn't work with us. "More airtime" for us just means more negative feedback. It is very simple to see through the psychological tricks, ploys and innuendo that these commercials use. They are not fooling anyone with sufficient cognitive abilities and a smattering of knowledge. They are using the 80/20 rule, it appears, and I am sure that most viewers are pretty clueless (or don't care), but I'd prefer not to be one of them. Sorry if that offends you.

I remember on the show "Two and a half Men", one of the Harper guys said something to the effect of "hey, if I find out I have one for more than four hours, I'm not running to my doctor, I'm running to a brothel" :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9:

Really, I think they do have a target audience for some of these commercials, but I also think that it has an anti-audience too. (like us), who just want to change the channel.

The more offensive and irritating ads are the more they are remembered. Seems to work. Some of y'all have already given free plugs to some of the products just by mentioning their names. Mission accomplished. I still have one of the old-fashioned TV's that you are able to put in the 'OFF' mode.
