CWH
I also try to play.
Such fun.
I have never played an instrament before.
I got a kit and a video, and have learned the basics.
One night i was playing in my basement (kinda dark).
I was getting out of hand and hit my knucke on the rim.
I did not know I was bleeding!
You should have seen the mess when I was finished, and turned the lights on!!!
Wife was not happy, and it took me a LONG time to clean up.
Good luck playing and hunting
By the way you sound great!
Bill

Re: I broke my drumstick " video "

Wow. Well one advise that I have is to almost always go to a teacher. It takes lots of talent and Patience to teach yourself. I've heard some really bad drummers that tried to teach themselves and turned to a teacher and was in the drumline the next year. Only thing I have done was hit myself in the head a few times. Could you take a picture of the grip your using with your drum stick? I know, habbit" I went to a new teacher this year, I don't like the guy now. Dig this, my first lession he was teaching me pairadiddles RR-LL-RR-LL-RR-LL I said OK i need more work on my rudiments. By the 10Th lession I was still doing them. We talked during the lession and I knew this guy didn't have a clue to what he was doing teaching wise. First off he had me play on a drum set with one snare, one tom tom,a bass drum, single peddle, high hat,and one symbol. The drums were all padded, I couldn't play on the drum set to well because it had very little bounce. I showed him my stuff the first lession, he wanted to change my grip, he wanted it to be changed to thumb on top using all figures, instead of thumb on side with no fingers. I just said OK i started playing that way. I dropped my stick 20 times, I was like how in the hell do you play like this? my parent's were cool with it. We left 5 months later because of income. My parents wanted me to go back and I said no. Because he never called to check up because we didn't tell him what was going on, and I showed my parent's how easy it was to just knock the stick out of your hands. I held the stick very lightly with my first grip it never fell out, then with the one he showed me it would fall out everytime. My parent's never took me back. I want to go back to my first teacher now. My first teacher grew up with very famious drummers. He was in WVU drumline for 30 years. He tought drums for 42 years. He has tought up to 200 kids or more. :headbang: ROCK ON JIM!
