Actually, I believe many of you think I must be out of my mind, or a clown, but that is so far from the truth.

For years I have been studying genetics and always thought the father of genetics to be Mendel. When you think of the work he did with peas in the 1860's it is amazing that one was able to grasp the idea of genes and his developing hybrids. Well Mendel was always an inspiration for me and this interest grew into an obsession with making hybrid bananas.

Well you can believe me, or not, I have developed a pre-sliced banana. When I was a kid I always hated having to peel a banana and slice it for my cereal. I now have developed a banana that once you peel the skin away, you can just turn it over and the slices will fall into the bowl. I know, it is not a cure for cancer, but I am happy with this.

I just need a way to market it now and rake in the money!!!!

If this is true - and seed from it can reproduce the identical product (or you have the way to guaranteed sustainability of the fruit) then the very first thing you need to do is protect your product by getting a plant patent - before you even think about finding investors or buyers.

Bananas are already pre-sliced. It's just that they're sliced in the long direction. Three uniform divisions.
Now if you could develop self-peeling bananas or bananas with a Nutella center or a peanut butter center... THAT would be something!

GMO fruit and vegetables are not aloud to be sold in most grocery stores or even Food Banks in the USA for reasons that we can't get into here.On one hand your banana idea might sound good and on the other what will this do to inners of my body. I 've worked in the produce field almost all my adult life and when people or corps. start fulling around with the genes-Watchout!! ??? :help:

Ahh Iron Patch, I am very disappointed in your thinking, but I honor your decision, as I know you have weighed the issue carefully. Too bad you weren't born in that minute that W.C. Fields was talking about ;D

Well ... the mess is even painful to watch here because if the US goes down the toilet then all of North America will be 3rd world status (or at least feel like it). But, since I can't do anything about it, I'll just dig relics and maybe drink a beer once in a while.

I'm asking because 99% of the fruits and veggies that we have in this country are hybrids. So, how would you tell what is GMO and what isn't?
