Re: What's For Dinner?

It's leftovers tonight. I'm home watching the girls tonight. The wife is at the hospital with her mom. She has been there for two weeks now and today had two brain aneurysms. She's having a real hard time and any and all prayers will be appreciated.

I guess the only good news I have tonight is the leftovers are meatloaf and homemade mac and cheese. :-\

I sure wish my mother-in-law would get better. :(

mamabear - do you hunt or fish for chard?
Not sure what kind of critter that is.

RPG - Best wishes.

Had the last of that batch of chicken & dumplings tonight.
Got some more chicken parts thawing in fridge.
Get a nice meal and 6 - 7 meals to freeze when I make a batch.
All for under $5 total.

Re: What's For Dinner?

Thanks guys for the prayers. Looks like they are helping. MIL is stable though still a very sick woman. Wife just called and is on her way home. Going to be touch and go for a few days but I think we're out of the woods. :)

Did I mention my wife is on her way home? And going by Popeyes? I haven't had Popeyes chicken in at least 20 years. One opened recently in our area but I haven't had a chance to get by there. So, tonite it's Popeyes fried chicken. :hello:

HOT DOGS. ;D

Wife Just got home from the hospital and is tired. I been cleaning the pool and cutting grass and am tired too. So, hot dogs sound good.

MIL is better, got moved from ICU to a room this afternoon. She is talking to people and my wife says she looks better. They will be feeding her through a tube for a couple of days to get her strenght back and we're hoping she will continue to improve over the next few days.

Thanks for the prayers guys. :)

Re: What's For Dinner?

RPG - good to hear status and good news :icon_thumleft:

NGE - I had catfish a long time ago and it was good.
Hear channel cats go pretty big.
Around here we have sturgeon.
Not supposed to keep any over 6 feet long.
Truck fishing is fun in winter.
Make a big slingshot using the stake pockets on back of truck.
Railroad spike works well for a weight.
If you don't need a winch to pull back the rubber you have no luck.
Will throw a dead cat bait 1/4 mile out.
Hook a bell to top of pole mounted on front bumper.
Get back in truck out of the rain. Drink coffee, eat lunch, etc.
When bell rings - hit reverse and punch it to set hook.
WARNING !
Some trucks have been taken into the river !
Always wear a life jacket.

I had BBQ burgers today. I was cook and nobody got sick.
Tomorrow am invited to BBQ animal ribs deal.
How many different kinds of "Salad" are there?

Re: What's For Dinner?

I hope everyone had a great 4th. Meat on the grill sure sounds good.

Myself, I was back and forth to the hospital with the mother-in-law. Didn't feel much like grilling. The good news is, she's doing better and may be out of the hospital in a couple of weeks. The bad news is, the wife stepped off the porch wrong Monday and broke the bones in the top of her foot. The emergency room is no fun. :(

We got to see a specialist tomorrow to see what it's going to take to get her fixed up. And, we may be in the process of moving to a new location. I don't know how she's going to do it. ;D

Hot dogs tonite. ;D

Re: What's For Dinner?

I've been eating mostly fresh vegies since the summer market is just down the road. So tonight for birthday dinner, is roast zuchinni with Marinaro sauce, deep fried squash and green tomatoes, green beans and new potatos. I did have a ham sandwich with fresh ripe tomato slices, swiss cheese, slice of vidalia onion and a little lettuce with Miracle Whip to add zest. I've been on a Cheez it craze lately, and can eat a box with a cold diet lime coke about every two days. I get on a kick like that and just crave one thing for weeks and then I am done with it. I wonder what's next? There's a new Italian restaurant down the road a bit that I am wanting to try although I am not much for Italian food. But it has a couple of good writeups in the papers. Two guys moved here from Chicago and opened it up. Monty

Happy birthday Monty. :occasion15:

Wish I had known. I'd be eating dinner with you tonite. Those fresh veggies sound good.

Since the wife is off her feet, her aunt and cousin cooked for us tonite. Looks like it's going to be green bean casserole, Italian mushroom chicken casserole, fresh tomatoes and fruit for desert.

Yum Yum.
