***Latin Revenge!
There are phrases used in law, medicine and church that are Latin in oregin. Here are some samples
Deus ex machina = An improbable solution,artificially introduced to solve a difficulty or untangle a dramatic plot
Cogito ergo sum = I think therefor I am
Errare humanus est = To err is human
Ex animo = From the heart; sincerely-- This phrase was used as a "byline" by a famous treasure hunter/writter
Persona non grata = an unpleasing person
Via = By way of
Vox populi, vox dei = The voice of the people is the voice of God
Regnat populas = The people rule
Semper fidelis = always Faithful
Semper paratus = always prepared
Summus ius summa inuria = the more law, the less justice
pro bono = for free
pro bono publico = for the public good
alea iacta est = the die is cast
Bona fide = in good faith
Cave canem = beware of the dog
Carpe diem = seize the day
Caveat emptor = let the buyer beware
Ave atque vale = Hail and farwell

Corpus delicti - body of crime
Habeas corpus - that you have the body
Although Latin is by far the largest contributor, I believe French is right up there too

Latin is the biggest contributor because the other romance languages are derived from it. French and Spanish in particular. I speak Spanish and can understand French to a point because both come from Latin. Learn Latin. It's a dead language, but when you know it you can name insects and write prescriptions and such.

one of my favorites is --
"in vino veritas" -- "in wine truth"
---a sober person often "hides "their true feelings --- but once a person gets a bit drunk often a persons "true feelings" what they really think "pops" out.
