I had a McGyver moment, since we are avid boaters (really, just fisherman). I have an old lift magnet that has a 200lb rating. Now, I have 4 tires from an old "Blackfoot" RC car. I have built a chassis with the tires and axles with a cut out and carriage for the magnet. Now, what to do with it...I was thinking of just walking with it on the banks of the Hudson, however I realize that magnets do not pick up highly valued items...am I just wasting my time.?

Might be good for getting surface trash out of an area before you detect it. After getting all the nails, fish hooks and bottle caps picked up it would be easier to get to the good targets.

Or another option is to drag the Hudson on kayak and use it for its original purpose..Maybe that elusive 1930's penn reel will finally show
