A gas pipeline explosion caused a huge fire in San Bruno, California, near San Francisco.

Agence France-Presse reports:

California firefighters were battling a huge fire still raging Friday hours after a gas pipeline exploded destroying or damaging more than 170 homes, amid reports at least six people had been killed.

I don't think I'd want gas in my house or even running down my street. Since nobody heats their houses where I live, I suspect we do not have gas lines in the street out front. But I could be wrong.

Gas does not discriminate when it fills a void and then blows up.

It is definately a horrid accident. I must however, say, that picture you posted is amazing. It captures everything right there.
