Best US-holiday destination for the month of July, combining the following three conditions:

1. Warm and sunny, so that one (the wife) can lay on the beach and get a tan
2. Lovely beaches for metal detecting (me ::))
3. Interesting sites to visit.

What would you recommend as the best places in the entire USA ?

LOL, that is like asking what is better Ford or Chevy, Blondie or Brunette...

There are so many beaches down the East coast of the USA that are good for hunting, Florida is surrounded with good beaches and the Miami area is a hot area for hunting. Florida is full of tourist spots, although being a local I am burned out on them.....California has hundreds of miles of nice beaches and tourist sites and Texas has nice beaches but less tourist sites....Water is warmer the further south you go if your going into the water....

Sent you a IM.....

Florida is not bad if you like plenty of humidity :tongue3: Living in the NE, New York/New Jersey of course I would favor this area. NJ has many wonderful beaches along the coast for you to enjoy and all, except the National Parks are metal detector friendly. Here's the rest of the pitch, that include the positive and negative features.

- negative
+ positive

New York
- need a permit to detect
+ Broadway shows
+ Historical sights
+ Shopping 5th Ave & Greenwich Village
+ Fine dining

New Jersey
+ No permit to detect
+ Gambling in Atlantic City
+ Great Beaches
- Must know exit numbers on all major highways :laughing7: (funny thing if you ask anyone where they live in NJ they will either give you an exit number off the NJTPK New Jersey Turnpike, or The GSP Garden State Parkway :tongue3:
+ Historic Villages... tons of them.. no detecting though :(

Even if you stay in Central NJ, New York is only an hour away :icon_thumleft:

FL
- English is becoming a second language there :laughing7:
- Feels like you got hit in in the face with a hot mop when you debark the plane :P
+ Beaches are nice, just leave any valuables locked up in your hotel room :icon_thumleft:
- It's also hurricane season.. Can you say tsunami :dontknow:

**** Also Note ****

Under NJ law, it is forbidden to rain during the summer during the day. All fain must fall between 8pm and 5am :icon_thumleft:

The NJ coast also has nearly as many pirate shipwrecks and buried treasure as Florida!!! To this day, even after a good storm Spanish coins are still washing up along the beaches. Least we forget that Captain Kidd is rumored to have buried many caches in NJ as well.

Being a charter member also has its privileges; you can get my book, "New Jersey, where the treasure is." Normally sold at $10, it's yours at a 75% discount. Tell me that's not a great deal alone.

Outlet malls everywhere here, so watch your wife or your credit cards will max out. :headbang:

The no frill hotels are the hotels used by our nothern tourists, they don't shower very often so hotels know there is need for towels soap or shampoos. :laughing9:

The wampum is exchangeable at the teepee with the redlight...... :laughing7:

No problem Dane, we're both here to help. :icon_thumleft:

Did you also know that NJ offers a better exchange rate on the Euro than Florida does :dontknow:

Treasure_Hunter is also just a little misguided on some of his facts, but that is OK too :icon_thumleft: He is a member in good standing with the Florida "Board of Tourism" and also sits on council for several "Chamber of Commerce" boards in various cities.

I sit on no councils and can only prints the truth as I see it... :icon_thumleft:

P.S.
You may also want to read my disclaimer too :laughing9:

Not just to detect, Saturna.
But I like detecting on beaches, and if I should make a holiday in the US, I would love to detect on some beaches.
In 2009 I was with my family in Florida and I bought a detector there and made some detecting on various beaches.
Didn´t find any "sensations" but it was real fun.
See my report here: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,258206.0.html

Our beaches are FREE, most beaches in NJ charge a daily access fee.....

Can't argue with the drool, the eye candy on Florida beaches will make any man drool, well almost any man....I heard Whiting, NJ men bat for the other team........ :laughing9:

I can't argue there... Most beaches do charge a nominal fee, it helps rid the beach of riff-raft :tongue3:
Then you will also know the people on our beaches have money and jewelry to lose too :icon_thumleft:

Correct on that batting too, we have to bat for Florida as their limp wrists can't swing heavy wood :laughing7:

NY/NJ - danger of sudden death syndrome and walking into "the warriors" turf at Coney Island!
+ Spart' can be your "gun bearer".

FLA- danger of there being more detectorists on the beaches than sunbathers.
+ Lots of hot chicks and/or big, loud,"i love me who do you love?" guys (if you're into that), A chance (very miniscule) of Spanish gold, and the chance to go get a tattoo at Miami Ink and get on tv.

Hawaii - Americans go there.
+ Very nice,lots of goodies...if lucky.

..Or you can venture around the USA's empire of Puerto Rico or Iraq, where there's a chance you'll end up on the highest rated video on "youtube". Well, there's a chance your head will end up on it anyhow!

I'd go with "Bling central", Florida, if i was forced to choose at gunpoint.

Have fun. ;D

Our wrists are limp and sore from constantly having to shield our eyes from the glare of all the pasty pale white skin of NJ tourists on our beaches.....There must never be any sun in NJ....... :tongue3: :laughing7:

A kind rebuttal to Dano's post. Please keep in mind that Dano is an outsider, plus he loves to stir the pot so to say. :laughing7: Let me kindly address his summation of state comparisons.

NY/NJ - danger of sudden death syndrome and walking into "the warriors" turf at Coney Island!
+ ** Spart' can be your "gun bearer".

New York's Coney Island

The "Warriors" soon disbanded after the release of their movie due to overwhelming embarrassment. :tongue3:
As previously stated, you need a permit to do almost anything in NY
The only greatness at Coney Island was "Astro Land" now pretty much closed up. However, you can still go to the world's most famous "Nathan's Frankfurter" stand just off the Boardwalk.
New York's appeal many comes in play with fine dining, shows and shopping.
** For a nominal fee I can get you an untraceable toss away "piece"

New Jersey - Our hidden gem
Well I didn't want to give this away until the time was closer, but I have to pull out our big guns now.

Many beaches have "tiki bars" why leave the oceanfront for a drink when you can get hammered on the sand.

Walk amongst the celebrity cast of "The Jersey Shore" in Seaside!! That's right, you can meet Snookie, Jenni - J-Woww, Sammi "Sweetheart", Vinny, "Pauly D", Ronnie and Mike the "Situation"
Also the newest cast member Deena who describes herself as "class in a glass and party in a body."

Yes Miami Ink is a very popular place to get a tat and perhaps your 15 minutes of fame on TV, but can you say "Hepatitis C" :tongue3:

The only Spanish gold is plated and probably dropped by the local residents :laughing7:

Hawaii - Americans go there.
+ Very nice,lots of goodies...if lucky.

If you play your cards right, you may catch the filming of "Dogg The Bounty Hunter"

..Or you can venture around the USA's empire of Puerto Rico or Iraq, where there's a chance you'll end up on the highest rated video on "youtube". Well, there's a chance your head will end up on it anyhow!

He called this one right :icon_thumleft: , but 1 out of 3 is not a great batting average :P

Clearly Dano was under duress in making Florida is best choice.

Have fun. Grin
