Truth in advertising..........sure!

Is it even possible for a car to have, "sleek sexy styling?" Sleek, perhaps, but sexy? OK, maybe there's a few people in this world with a bumper fetish, but can a car really be, "sexy" all by itself? Probably not. I mean, let's face it, depending who's in the car, it might even get uglier. A car might have sleek styling, but sexy styling? Give me a break, and just be sure it has four good brakes.

If you listen to all the beauty aid commercials on TV and read the ones in the women’s magazines, not to mention the ones on the radio, then there is no reason any woman should ever appear to be more then about 20 - 25 years old. And there are so many "guaranteed" weight loss programs out there we should all be running around in florescent tights flaunting our absolutely perfectly trim bodies.

Oh, and I just saw another one of those "get rich home buying scams" on TV last night, and I gotta tell you, in this economy, well, if it's so darn easy then I really do want to see the caveman pull this one off.

And the list goes on and on, "Where's the beef!"......that was a classic that should now be applied to any food product that claims to be hardy, with one minor word change, of course......"Where's the meat!"

These days, you can't believe a word of any of it. So what's the most bogus commercial or ad that comes to your mind?

yea a car can have sexy lines...it is in the eye of the beholder

makeup turning back the clock 25 yrs. nope, even plastic surgery might give ya 10-15 tops HA HA

don't waste time on advertising, it is targeted at getting your money any way they can. So for me, I choose to see what I require or need, way the research and buy...other than that, I don't truly give it another thought.

this is where parents need to kick in early and let kids learn that "what you see is not what you get" and to use their buying dollars wisely.

I think you hit the nail on the head, "buyer beware". It's so rampant and uncontrolled, so full of deception, hidden fine print, and misleading claims, nobody can afford to trust or to believe in anything anymore, and this isn't just limited to products.

I DVR every show I want to watch just so I don't have to watch commercials. every dang time the show breaks to a commercial the volume goes up 9 billion decibals

My favorite is the White's commerical where they say, "A White's detector tells you what is in the ground everytime." Or the advertisements that tell you "this" detector is very deep. If we believed every detector is deeper than the last one we whould find coins in China.
How about, "With the sale of each detector package we give you all this free stuff worth $xxx.00 dollars."

I think the FCC or someone has been under investigation to lower the volumes of commercials etc.

You read right... but they haven't done anything about it yet I think they are too busy trying to find a way to fine Howard Stern again, even though he is on satellite

It appears that network TV broadcast its programming at lower levels and the advertisers chose to broadcast at the maximum allowed.

As anyone in any division of "Homeland Security" knows, most of our prescription medicines now come by ship from China (no, I'm not kidding). They are kept at certain "secret" locations and these locations are “heavily guarded.“

So China the most honest and trustworthy country is making our meds. Lets hope they're not putting lead paint in each capsul. In fact, most of our sea food now comes from China. I won't tell you what they do to it so we won't know it was spoiled before shipping.

I like Walmart's $4 prescription program. I was paying up to $120 per month for my blood pressure med and now I get generics from China for $4 a month. But that's okay, the real stuff comes from the same factory in China anyway. I'd say there's a slight markup, eh? But my brother gets cancer shots every 2 months (I think) and these shots are $5,000 each. He has excellent insurance and the government also helps I think. But what do you think those shots really cost to make? Maybe $10?

I won't even get into the methicillin resistant staphyloccus aureus (MRSA) issue. Stay out of hospitals until you really really need to go to one.

Ever wonder how many men die each year from using Viagra? They won't tell you and can you guess why? Viagra is really a powerful blood pressure reducing drug and can cause blood pressure to bottom-out which can send one to one's eternal reward. I know one man who nearly died by using it. All others got buried. There's a giant coverup in this.

I think there is "some" truth in advertising.

Like someone else mentioned...listen to those drug commercials on tv. For insomnia, take brand X. Side effects may include, nausia, vomiting, heart attack, stroke, serious allergic reactions and has sometimes been shown to be fatal. Ask your doctor if brand X is right for you.

The best ad I've seen lately was advertising a anti-aging cream....it showed a bunch of younger looking women and at the very bottom of the screen in very light colored lettering It said and I quote" models do not use this product"....now that is truth in advertising...goat

I have an early 1970's TV broadcasting equipment manual that mentions this very same "problem". 40 years later and it's still going on?
I don't think the lack of action can be blamed on incompetence....

yea I hate those commercials that say under in small writing--actor portrayal or the "individual results may vary" --duh

What gets me is on the drug commercials in images and large writting they are telling you how good it is and at the same time in small writting at the bottom of the screen they are telling you all the bad things that can happen.
Yes the sub limital is still there I have spotted it on occasions. plus the body language is over done. The up and down movement of the head makes them look like those dashboard head bouncers. Frank

Packaged foods crack me up, you look at the picture on package and you think, "Man, that looks really good!" But take the item out of the package and you think, "Man, where's the rest of it!"

Some food items are even packed in larger containers to make you think you're getting a larger portion then you really get. I guess Fruad is ok if you're big business, but if you and I did the same thing we'd be shut down and thrown in in jail. And to think Uncle Sam can't understand why Americans put very little trust in anything anymore. Pretty sad when you stop and think about it.
