The Cincinnati library system is putting on display a series of 1848 photos that create a panoramic view of the Cincinnati riverfront, considered groundbreaking in photography and the oldest surviving panorama of its kind.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Riverfront Panorama was captured by Charles Fontayne and William S. Porter as they stood on a Newport, Ky., rooftop and looked across the Ohio River.
