Dug for diamonds

I finally got an opportunity to dig for diamonds in Diamond Starte Park, in Murfresboro, AR. Though I didn't find any diamonds, I'm glad I had the experience of looking for them. For those who have never been there, here are a few pics.

A few more.

If you go, I recommend going in the fall, as it gets HOT there.

Maybe next time will be better. I think I'm gonna try gold panning next. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Don't look at it that way....look at it as forging ahead. That usually pays off...what kind of example would you set for your children if you just gave up?

Oh no...not giving up. That was something I've been wanting to do for a long time, and now I can say I did it. And if I ever get the chance to go try it again, I'm sure I'll be there digging my little heart out.

GPAA member? When you going on the Alaska trip?

I heard the best time to go after those diamonds is just after it rains and the sun comes out. Just sit there and watch for the sparkles.

I am in in GPAA. Been to many of their claimes. Been to Stanton and Georgia outings. Lots of fun. Frank

For surface hunting, that's probably best. We were told to dig 3-6 feet down. Lot of sifting.
Alaska would be fun, but I don't know If I'll get to travel that far.
I haven't been to any claims yet, but I plan on going, Lord willing.

I'm sure that's true. After seeing the yellow in the pan, I wouldn't be able to stop.

Glad you had fun, i may go down in the fall & camp a few days, I'me only a few hours away.
I know people who have several 'small diamonds', they used to go very often, I have a yellow one I traded for.

Haven't been to Crater of Diamonds State Park. Probably won't go, either.

Most states west of the Mississippi have already had native diamonds found at. And if you're worried about the heat, the best time to look for them is at night with a black light.

Can't hunt at night. They close down at a certain hour.

I went about 10 years ago. Didn't find any diamonds but found a nice piece of jasper that I made a necklace of.

It's true about after a rain, but it's best if they plow right before the rain.

Best,
Scott
