    Re: rioting in London

Blacks again! (We don't do "African English" sorry).
Seems our police...who are not supposed to be armed, shot a guy dead who was shooting at them and who is not supposed to be armed!
His family wants "justice" (seems he already got it to me but go figure) so everyone got it by burning and looting...which they're not supposed to do!

It's just any excuse for them these days.

    Re: rioting in London

I thought America was the only country where these poor people were oppressed? *sarcasm*

Sorry, but if you shoot at someone (especially a cop) you should expect return fire. Glad the scum is dead.

The Brits should do like the Israelis and just bulldoze that entire neighborhood now. Oh wait - the idiots already burned half of it down themselves. Real men of genius there.....

The Queen should do like Obama and have a "Beer Summit". *more sarcasm*

    Re: rioting in London

The problem is the police policy of "passive containment", leaving them to do their worst until they go home to bed. Problem with this is that any surrounding areas feel left out, so the following night they all erupt too...which happened last night!
They should just stop ALL welfare payments for the area until the damage is paid for. That'd give them a lot more to worry about!

    rioting
eh, just people who had enough crap and it hits the fan

let people riot cause to tell you the truth it is a way of expression that will be seen more and more with the coming troubles of all countries.

riots happen every darn day. just read about all the countries having a daily riot.

they are not new, won't be stopped, etc.

riots can change a situation sometimes....not the best form of 'change' but necessary sometimes.

Apparently Aluminum baseball bats have been sold like gold stocks. I suspect they don't have a Second Amendment in the UK. I strongly suggest folks join the NRA like I did. Americans could be at risk if the rats in Washingtoon decide to try take away our guns.

I saw those London riots, on the news, too. They were pretty bad. An awful lot of fire.

    Re: rioting in London

Being slightly involved, not on the looting side , as I posted before, more Police are now on call (London 16,000+) and the use of water cannon and Baton rounds have been OK'd. Most of the trouble has moved up North, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool (it's just an excuse to loot and pillage). On the Provincial side we are on watch, and any anti-social behaviour is being cracked down on. COBRA is meeting tomorrow at 09.00hrs, and then we will see how the Government handles the situation, probably very badly, and then pass on the blame

    Re: rioting in London

Thanks for your good wishes guys, but I'm not at risk. I am the chairman of the area NAP, set up by the County Police to set policing priorities. We have, as a group (several NAP's) set up a boundry that is constantly policed by the police and a few of us. The troubles are not too many miles away, and we have to protect our communities. So far no problems, we even have the TA on back up . All I do is go out and drive around for a few hours every now and then, and then report in. Boring and thats how I want it to stay . It will all settle down soon, and go away just like the Brixton riots many years ago

pass that prayer on down to your Brothers and Sisters in uniform....We pray that they are all safe!
Will do Tee , I am just doing up my boots for a drive right now and I will pass on all your good wishes. But like I say, I don't think it will get here, just where there are big stores to loot.

This Reminds me of the L.A. riots. They burned & looted all the stores protesting Rodney Kings beating. Then two weeks later they were on the news whining they had no where to get groceries & beer. Heck of a way to protest, burn down your own neighborhood that'll show em!!!
I know it's here, just need a bigger coil!

Mate...Like all non-Americans we have to concentrate, study and google their constant lazy useage of acronyms in everything they say and do. There is NO WAY on Earth they'll ever do the same with ours!
Nobody has a clue what ya talkin' about!

Saw them on the news running around Manchester town centre. The police should take a page from history:

The Peterloo Massacre (or Battle of Peterloo) occurred at St Peter's Field, Manchester, England, on 16 August 1819, when cavalry charged into a crowd of 60,000–80,000.
The military presence comprised 600 men of the 15th Hussars; several hundred infantrymen; a Royal Horse Artillery unit with two six-pounder (2.7 kg) guns; 400 men of the Cheshire Yeomanry; 400 special constables; and 120 cavalry of the Manchester and Salford Yeomanry,
Cavalry charged into the crowd with sabres drawn, and in the ensuing confusion, 15 people were killed and 400–700 were injured. The massacre was given the name Peterloo in ironic comparison to the Battle of Waterloo, which had taken place four years earlier.

    That'd cure them!!!
