That hole in the ground....

Heard this the other day;

A couple friends were walking in the woods when they came upon a large hole in the ground with no obvious bottom. They threw a small stone in and as they listened, they never heard it hit the bottom. So they threw a much larger stone down the hole thinking surely the bigger one will make a sound as it hit the bottom. They waiting and still no sound. So they found a nearby railroad tie and the both of them struggled and eventually got this huge railroad tie down the hole thinking for sure they would hear it hit the bottom this time. They waited and waited for the sound of it hitting the bottom when all the sudden, from over their shoulders they saw this got running as fast as it could run toward them. It ran right past the both of them and dove right down into the hole. Stumped, they wondered just what the heck that goat had on it's mind.... A few moments later a farmer shows up and asks them if they saw a goat around these parts.... They replied that they did in fact see a crazy goat run by them and dive into that hole, but they had no idea why. The farmer scratched his head a moment and said, "Na, that couldn't have been my goat because my goat was chained to a railroad tie".
