Viruses have been blamed for all types of conditions lately that were previously thought to originate by some other means.

Could New Drug Cure Nearly Any Viral Infection? Technology Shows Promise Against Common Cold, Influenza and Other Ailments, Researchers Say
ScienceDaily (Aug. 26, 2011)
Most bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics such as penicillin, discovered decades ago. However, such drugs are useless against viral infections, including influenza, the common cold, and deadly hemorrhagic fevers such as Ebola.
Now, in a development that could transform how viral infections are treated, a team of researchers at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory has designed a drug that can identify cells that have been infected by any type of virus, then kill those cells to terminate the infection.
In a paper published July 27 in the journal PLoS ONE, the researchers tested their drug against 15 viruses, and found it was effective against all of them -- including rhinoviruses that cause the common cold, H1N1 influenza, a stomach virus, a polio virus, dengue fever and several other types of hemorrhagic fever.

That would be wonderful but who do you think they will let have it?
A person will have to fit the criteria to get the drug. Under a certain age etc.

Without a cold now and then your body might quit producing white cells, then what>?
No resistance, most any cut/infection could run wild without prompt treatment.
Just like giving antibiotics and hormones to all the livestock.
Viruses got immune and kids develop sooner.
Never mind, the gruberment will take care of it.
(you are right, no money in cures, only in treatments.)

Plain old honey works for infections in skin and so forth. And, it does it by a method which precludes resistance. If you can afford it, try Active Manuka Honey from NZ.
I have read that during the Cold War when the West wasn't selling antibiotics, Russia used honey for external injuries.

by treating and selling the slow long term treatments over and over again -theres much more money to be made than in a quick fast one shot type cure treatment * unless its very very costly big pharma looks at their bottom line very closely to figger out what best $$$ wize for them.
lets say there was a cheap one shot treatment that would "cure" cancer vs current treatments that take years and cost a butt load of cash --think it would ever hit the mainstream market ?--not likely.

Re: Cure Any Viral Infection
Recently, I accidentally learned that instead of paying $50 a month, or more, for Fosamax, a woman can take 1800 mg a day of calcium. If someone else wants to believe the pharmas don't know this, you can, but I do not. They have to know.
Mexican women traditionally got more than 2000 mg a day from tortillas, and osteoporosis was unknown among Mexican women on the tortilla diet.
