If you had a time machine and could go back to any year in history- when and where would you want to go .

3 rules :

1 : you retain all your present knowledge

2 : you can't ever return .

3 : you can bring 1 small item from the present .

Just think , you could go to the middle ages - tell the King of England that if he doesn't do what you say - you'll black out the sun (you know the exact hour of a total eclipse) They might treat you like a god or burn you at the stake !

You could go back to 1877 and allready know the winners of the Kentucky Derby for the next 20 years .

Maybe go to California before the goldrush - get a headstart on everyone else !

Heck , you could just go to 1975 - buy 10 shares of Microsoft !

Or would you try to change history - maybe kill Hitler - or save Lincoln .

What small item would you bring ? A modern handgun (what if you run out of bullets) ...A laser pointer (you'd be a big hit at parties till the batteries ran out ).... A history book (one step ahead of everybody)

Think about it .... What would you do ?

I would go to 2001 and warn about 911 attacks & save victims in the towers ,the pentagon and on the planes.I would bring with me a small purse gun to shoot some terrorist between the eyes.

Wait a mintue thats to easy instead I would string them up by thier big toes and break thier knees & ankles with a baseball bat. Then whip them with a barbed wire whip. Then let them die a slow horrible death upside down .

Well, If I can't return, I don't think I would go.

My Fantasy Would be to go to Philadelphia, and get about a hundred of the First U.S. mint 1792 "DISME"s (yes I spelled that Right)
and bring them Back.

But Since I can't return, I guess I'd have to go back and
take over Pauls spot in the Beatles & make my fortune that way.
I wonder if I can Pull off the Accent :P

I would go back to 1993 with a piece of paper with the winning lotto numbers for about 100 million- 18 years old and a 100 million in cash.. I might be dead by now.. but boy I bet I would have fun.. no wait! We get to retain our knowledge!! That would kick butt... I wouldn't squander it all after all... yep, that would be my pick

With my luck, if I flipped the machine's power switch on, I would immediately be whisked back in time to the moment when the switch was still off. Game over.

I would do the same....I have even had dreams where I had time travel ones where I went back to 2001, two days before the attack to warn them. I brought newspapers and magazines to prove my case. But I did return home :)....but I never did finish the dreams, so I don't know if they were saved :(

I'd return to the year 2006 with a small metal detector and find all the zinc-clad pennies I could. In the year 2106, there aren't any as they've all disintegrated and turned to dust. People over the years hoarded gold and silver coins which are worthless, common mad-made metals a hundred years from now. Each penny is worth their weight in zerillium and velaxium.

Well my second place winner would be the roaring 20's .I would be a cute little flapper with my little metal mesh purse and my short bob haircut.I would bring my Luckybug coin holder.I could go see a Charlie Chaplin movie in a theater :o. I could meet Mabel Normand & Mary Pickford too ! I would save ALL my items for my family as I got older for them to enjoy ! Then when i have "checked out" they would have loads of memories from their cool grandma of the roaring 20's ! Anyone seen the movie Somewhere in time ? It had Chris Reeve in it and Jane Seymore.

I love the idea of time travel.
If anyone ever invents the machine, I'll volunteer to be the guineapig.

But, there's a way you could come back. Just go back one year, and then
a year later you'd be back. But, would there be two of you ???

I would go back to anytime that my mother was still alive. I would take a photo album back with me.

That is the sweetest sentiment!!! (sniffle)

I love this idea as well...only thing...I just don't know where to start. Maybe go back to when my German ancestors came over in 1852 and get some info from them and hopefully pics (with me in them). Maybe head to the Outer Banks and meet some of hubby's ancestors and get the skinny on how the surname is really spelled!!! You know...get the inside skinny:):):)....so many ancestors...so little time!!! I really need this machine!!!

Reddie...that would be so cool too!!! I did some research for someone many years back on a Mary Pickford...I believe was her aunt. I can't remember, I would have to go through my files. So cool you bring up her name :) And you would look so pretty all dolled up for the "Charleston" ;)

I think I would go back to the late 1940's & early 1950" and take my wife. This seems to have been a good time in this country's history. WW2 was over. Industry thrived. Plenty of prime land to be had (Water front!) Americans still had morals and respected each other. The cars were cool! The music was cool! (no Hip Hop or Death Metal) The crime & drug problem was very minimal. All the coins were made of silver! There was no such thing as being P.C.! I know all the crap that the 1960's would soon bring with the war & other social problems, But for that small time frame it seems times were good in the good ole USA!

Oh YEAH!!! When REAL ROCK N ROLL RULED!!!!!!!!!!! When Rock and Roll was born....I think the clothes were so cool looking and those guys....MAMA MIA....Hotttttttttttt!!! Slick hair, white t's with cigs in their sleeves, well fitting jeans....ok...whew!! (Fanning)....yea, that would be a good time to head back too!!! ;)

If these are the rules:
With my present knowledge, and my portable computer on sun shells charger, for sure I could go to ancient Egypt and become a God there. How incredibly nice. Fist class God maybe a Pharaoh !!!! Oh!! and I don't bother if I never return back.
Digman... the wised Pharaoh of Egypt !!!

On second thought, two minutes ago in a Las Vegas casino, could be easier and still fine too....

What if the bodies recovered at Roswell (if true) were time travelers.
They looked strange because they had traveled through a black hole
(spaghetti effect). If so, I guess we have a time machine sitting in a
hanger at area 51.
Okay, I've watched too much Ray Bradbury.
