This Year's Sand Castles Competition
It was stunning- the best yet.
The competition starts with the tide going out. The judging must be completed before the tide comes in and washes the work away. That gives everyone about
6 hours. Some pretty fancy work for such a short time! There are ribbons and
awards for the competition, but no money involved.
The competition is held at Cannon Beach, Oregon.
These are only half of the pictures and if anyone is interested, I can do a
part 2, and show the rest of them later.
Enjoy.

I like the dragon one the best.
You ever wonder why they don't let folks detect on some beaches but they will let people do that? The holes we make are much smaller

This is where many people go wrong, and why i can detect beaches in a country with a virtual total ban on detecting. Legally, they cannot ban "detecting" on public beaches, as basically you're only walking across the sand the same as someone with a beach umbrella. They can only ban people from digging anything up, and if they ban detectorists from digging...then it applies to ALL the public who are digging, and then all the kids start crying!!
If you're willing to fight it in court, you'll see i'm right. This doesn't apply on "private" beaches, or beaches designated a "nature reserve" or "historic site".
Now...Ray, those are some stunning creations there! How the hell do they do that Amazing, you have my vote for "pt 2". (The chinese one deserved it's "1st place".)

Hello, Peachy,That guy with the dragon is in real trouble. Must be kind of dark where his head is. LOL. It doesn't look like he is going to be able to go home
dinner tonight unless he does some awful quick fighting.
Hi, Dano, Yup, there is some real tallent displayed here. I wonder how they
get their ideas. They must be planned well ahead of time, no doubt.
I am glad you like them, thank you for mentioning it, I will do a part 2.
Hello, Tee, I imagine they spray them with something to keep them from
falling apart before they are judged. But the ocean washes them away as
soon as the tide comes in so it doesn't have to be for very long.
Thank you all, for your replies.
