" I was way too abusive with the box. I chiseled the hinges off, and used a hatchet to chop my way inside. Again, I can't tell you the specific items that were in there, but one of them was very fragile and very freakin' valuable. I destroyed it! I figured it would either be filled with all cash or all gold, but I was wrong."

I think I may have figured out what was in the box or boxes. Referring to the latest BeekRock post entitled: "What If"
He indicated that he needed an expert to help him dispose of the items.
He claimed he could not tell anyone.
He further stated that he would have to let someone in on his "secret" in order to liquidate his findings.

Add this to what he claims regarding the trunk with the breakables. Beekrock did say he broke one item of extreme value. It would appear to me that the contents would be contraban, stolen items, or something that had a traceable history. Since the old man was in his 80's I would assume that he was in the military over in Europe or in the Pacific. I would wager that he brought somethings back with him as a souvenirs(?) Perhaps somethings that were valuable, could not tell anyone, and he would have been in trouble if discovered.

In his story Beekrock indicated the trunk did not hold cash or gold. That would rule out Nazi Gold. The items were BREAKABLE and he broke one of them. So, this leads me to believe that the items were collectibles of some sort. Antique ceramics? Faberge' Eggs? Antique Crystal...you see where I am going with this? He needed an "expert" to sell it for him? To a private collector that didn't care about the items history (perhaps).

I would speculate that the items were originally stolen. Either by the old man or at least originally stolen by someone.
I would further speculate that they had some sort of history that could be traced to their origins.
He needed a "confidant" that he could trust. I would assume for a nice fee.

Remember that the Nazi's looted Europe on their path to dominance and stored these artifacts in mountaintop German castles and other mines and caves. Maybe the old man stumbled on these, or was assigned to guard the loot....and in turn he looted the loot! I heard this happened even in modern times in Iraq.

Anyhow, that is my take on this story. In the end I do believe that beekrock used his borescope to peer into the last remaining case. Discovered that it wasn't worth his time to mess with. Put it up on eBay for sale. Someone or something spooked him and he pulled the auction for fear of auctioning off some worthless crap in a suitcase. He did indicate that he found a "suitcase" in a wall and sold it... "...it contained nothing of value." Maybe these were one in the same.... That is my story and I am sticking to it!

We should put this story to rest now and move on with our lives. There are miles of terra firma for me to search with my $500 metal detector and much treasure to be discovered. I just hope it is a Roosevelt dime from the 40's or 50's! hahahahah

Not sure that beek can claim innocence if he's selling the old mans' kiddie porn collection or war loot obtained via genocide. Hope he wiped his prints off.
