    Leaves...

Alas, it had become apparent during the previous weekend that, through contractual agreements with the Landlord, it was time to remove this year's fall leaves from the yard.

There were also leaves on the roof and in the gutters that were an object of recent conversation with said landlord.

I was allowed the use of my Landlord's leaf blower, and all I've got to do is push it all to the street where the City will come along in a few days in big trucks to "vacuum" it all up!
I'm good to go. Right? RIGHT!

Well, it became more and more apparent that this was fast looking more like work to me with each passing hour.
After starting out on the roof blowing leaves (FUN! ), then, it was moving on to blowing leaves out of the gutters.
That wasn't quite as much "fun."
An errant direction of air would send gutter gunk up to my face, getting on my safety glasses and diminishing my view.
    On the roof.
    Close to the edge...

Finally, I'm off of the roof. I consider kissing the ground, but realize that I've got enough gunk
on my face that it's all just about the same...

I had started my endeavors right after lunch and by the time that I had finished, about a minute before dark, I was a mass of sore muscles. One thing that worked against me all day was that I'm left-handed and the blower was made for right-handers. Another factor was the density of the leaves; I had to stop a couple of times to use the rake because it was more effective.

By the time I finally had my bounty to the street, I wanted to light a match...

I'm sorry....I'm just an old man and sometimes I digress, but I remember as a kid the yearly ritual of raking leaves.
    Burning leaves.
Making some spending money raking leaves for neighbors.
    BURNING those leaves!

Now? Well, there's some who claim that it damages some ozones or such.
Hmmmm....more than the leaf blower running? The city trucks running up and down the streets "vacuuming" leaves?

I'm afraid that more and more of our youth have never smelled the sweet, acrid, unique and distinct aroma of leaves burning from different species of trees; the scent that would send any kid to the source to "help" tend to the fire once the work was done.

Hope all are well and always,
    My Best Wishes,
    Scott

    Oh, Ummmm....Sorry....
Hmmmm, guess I kinda zoned out, (meds finally kickin' in...)
But the gist of my post was to hear of your fall season's remembrances.

    Hunting?
    Cooking?
    Courting......?

    Scott, Scott, Scott.....

If you really want to kill 2 birds with one stone, then use the Spartacus53 method...

I'll agree that cleaning up leaves is no fun task, and yes, burning leaves do bring back childhood memories.
Fortunately I have a way to lessen the task and still get that burning leave smell..

First all you need to do is track the source of those falling leaves, then set those offending tress ablaze.

    Problem solved

As the previously mentioned landlord I might get a little upset if he set my trees on fire.

    Re: Leaves...

use to be fun for me (years ago) now I put a sign on the lot line "hiring for leaf clean up" trouble is only the Mexicans in the area apply They do a great job. not a leaf left. The kids in the near by high school don't give the sign a second look The city cleans up at least 3 times each fall.
