Missed Christmas
Every year I start growing my beard out on the first of September.
Shave it for the summer.
Have been "Santa" for 20 years.
Never took a dime for my work.
The joy from the kids eyes cannot be priced.
That has been my Christmas present to myself.
Friends and relatives I was always available.
This year, day before Christmas Eve, my Lady went into hospital.
Congestive heart and COPD.
She said to go ahead and do my santa thing at her sisters place where they have Foster kids.
These kids have had bad lives and parents in jail type things.
It has been my greatest joy and my whole Christmas to bring some love into their lives.
Sadly, Christy, the Matriarch of the foster home had a heart attack the same night.
Christmas Eve day I visited both and found Christmas had been cancelled.
These Great Women had been organizing and taking care of things and they couldn't do it this year.
All I did was be a fat guy with a beard and a red suit.
As of this writing, my Lady Janice may be let out from hospital soon and Christy may have stents put in .
Please pray for these fine women.
So I missed Christmas this year.
So did those poor foster kids.

Re: Missed Christmas
You're alright, greydigger. I don't know of any law that says Christmas MUST be on December 25th, so maybe if things stabilize you can still make that happen? And we will keep all y'all in our prayers and thoughts.
This world is not my home.

Tell those ladies to hang in there; sounds like the Man is ordering y'all to take a break. Hope it all works out greydigger and God Bless.

Grey, My Friend,
I offer my prayers and best wishes.
You will find many Friends here that will pray for your best wishes; I surely have.
I wish you the best in your hardships...you will always be in my Prayers....
Someday, we will share "What's For Dinner."

Re: Missed Christmas
Grey,
I just took a few moments and prayed for the two ladies, you and the children. Keep your head up. Everything happens for a reason.

Re: Missed Christmas
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
Christy got her heart surgery and is now home but not jumping for joy.
That will take some time.
My Lady was out of hospital for 3 days and then the blood thinners caused a bad edema and had to be ambulanced back. She was in ICU for 3 days. Leg about 17" in dia. with swelling.
Yesterday they moved her to a regular room but she cannot walk.
I guess she will be there for maybe a week and then moved to a home where she can learn to walk again with therapy. I told her she may miss the Portland Marathon this year.
(Not so terrible of a joke, we are both HAMS and have done emergency comms for them.)
Thank you all for your thoughts and hope you all had better holidays.

Re: Missed Christmas
Some more whining I guess. Sorry.
Well kind of a missed Valentines Day also.
But she is still alive.
Went to "Rehab" place where they were supposed to help her exercise and learn to walk again.
It turned out to be a warehouse for people.
I could smell the bad in her leg as they never helped her.
From there to the burn center where her kidneys failed from too much work and we thought she was gone.
THEY helped her but had to do a tracheotomy to help her breathe.
Now she is out of there and into a better special hospital but cannot talk.
She is aware and awake sometimes and angry about her situation.
Years ago she asked for "No help" if she had major problems.
She just wanted to pass away.
I am not legally able to help and 2 family members who haven't even seen her for years over rode the rest of family. No power of attorney made.
I went to see her today and brought flowers for Valentines Day but she was sleeping.
Hospital is an hour away so cannot visit often as I am out of work right now.
Sorry for dumping this on you guys but sometimes I just have to vent.

Re: Missed Christmas
We are all praying for her Grey. My sister had a 3-way bypass a few weeks ago and she is having pain and swelling in her leg also, the one they took the veins from. She goes in today to see what is causing it. Getting old isn't for sissies is it? Best to you.

Re: Missed Christmas
Thank you PB.
Yea, getting old is just a different type of stress.
Best wishes for your Sister.
