What is so sad is that my daughter refers to her school as a prison.....Well, actually most prisons are guarded better than the schools....I believe it'll come down to parents guarding schools...Or a total "controlled" lock down each day. Ownly a Coward would do this to children....

I guess this Crazed Nutcase figured they wouldn't fight back! Problem is, every time an incident like this happens, it gives these borderline psychotics ideas! Then there are the Highly Impressionable Teens w/ real &/or imaginary grievances to avenge!
When I was in HS, Smoking in the John or Overdue Library Books were the most serious problems facing schools!

Im in CT, and the crazzies arent much of a problem here. Yet, we still have tons of practice drills all the time and everyone is so "concerned about our safety" that you cant even leave the school untill addressed specifically by an adult. Its really sad...

Highschool is much better though!

Hey, Back in time when us Older folk went to school it was great (to me) I enjoyed being out away from home...I cant recall any one having a hostel bust into the school and kill everyone moment. The "Pressure" these kids today have are what they have created "unknowingly" the way they "have" to fit in the pressure of wearing that certain brand of clothing shoes or jacket, the way they syle their hair...my 13 yr old is always saying it's because of this and that...."Pressure" and to think that us as parent tell them turn away and "ignore"...IMPOSSIBLE. Give me a pair of Converse tennis shoes and a pair of Levi's and all was fine....Lack of Respect in schools is one problem...as far as the wacko's who are allowed to just walk into a school.....I can't comphrehend...Pressure's of the world Pop out at us all in so many ways!

Exactly right. We have a lot of these in our community, and now and then one goes berserk because he or she stops taking the meds. At one time we had a guy who would chase cars with an axe. After a few years the authorities decided maybe he needed help.

There was another lady who called our house and started talking eating babies. They sent her up for a while but the problem again was she didn't think she really needed those meds.

See, these people think they're okay and everybody else is nuts.

The problem (at least on the surface) is the lack of proper law enforcement within our own country. It's not so much a problem with our laws as with the administering of those laws. Every day cops risk their lives to bring in mentals, etc., only to see the lawyers and judges set them free again. People commit murder every day in this country and get by with it. Some of these people are even famous.

If we returned more to the way they carried out the law in the old days (with some adjustments) we'd solve much of today's problems.
