I think every executive should come from the production floor and I think they should be required to spend at least 8hrs a week on that floor doing the various jobs the expect their employees to do. And there, my friends, is the problem. In all my time in the manufacturing world I only knew one guy like this, not supervisors or engineers, etc., but an actual upper executive, the CEO of the company. You wouldn't believe the difference in efficient decision making and all the BS that was quickly cut through.
