We all know about Jack the Ripper.But i bet you didnt know his murder spree continued into the 20th century.As told in Patricia Cornwells novel,"Portrait of a killer"(one of the most interesting books i have read in a while),exposes Jack the Ripper for who and what he was.Jack the Ripper was 100 years ahead of his time.He was a psychopath He was a Genius.A master of disguises,so great in fact that he could fool even his parents at the age of 8.He could write with both hands and change writing styles at will.He was an actor,a make up specialist.He had a very high social standing which made him invisible as a suspect.He didnt kill just prostitutes,he also killed children.Jack the Ripper wasnt a cop,he wasnt a member of the royal family.He was a famous artist trained by Whistler.His name was Walter Richard Sickert.Walter also trained artists and a few of them disappeared as well.Buy the book you wont put it down.And as an FBI agent said about the case.If theres coincidence upon coincidence upon coincidence upon coincidence then it is no longer a coincidence.Jack the Rippers choice of weapons pictured below.

I Never researched Jack the Ripper that closely, however I am curious on the "100 years ahead of his time" comment.

Does that mean people back then didn't know how to kill or disguise themselves.
My opinion there were people like him all through human history.
only the Ripper for some reason received more attention. perhaps due to
a change in how crimes were researched by the police & reported by the media of the period

Yes he may have been bright & Lucky enough , maybe even knew the right people & police to cover for him.
after all most if not all his victims were prostitutes, perhaps he was looked at as "cleaning" by the church.
& supported by them.

Some would also argue he was an expert Surgeon, or maybe a practicing surgeon.

ahead of his time ? Not in my opinion. Mentally Ill ? Most definitely

Ahead of his time as in he knew all about his times forensics the,can and cannots,what they could do and couldnt do.He knew how far he could go.He knew he could melt into a crowd with his ability at disguises.He knew his writing couldnt be traced as he could change styles at will.He mailed well over 200 letters to the police.He traveled all over England mailing those letters.He was a master at manipulation.Patricia Cornwell states the reason he killed was his,to keep it clean here,male parts were disfigured and useless.When he was an actor his stage name was Mr.Nemo,latin for Mr Nobody.One of the Rippers letters was signed Mr Nobody,but crossed out and resigned Jack the Ripper.He liked baiting and teasing the cops with clues that he knew they would overlook,but were in plain sight.He was confident that he would never be caught and he wasnt.You would really have to read the book to really fully understand what she meant by him being ahead of his time.

Apparently; because all I see is he was very bright & Slightly fearless due to his mental state.
I say slightly fearless because he worried enough that he covered his tracks, but
was a bit fearless because he didn't stop after the first, & teased the police.

Sorry but i cant picture the royal doctor,who was 72 at the time and the victim of a stroke,running around killing street wise and street tough prostitutes.That notion is a bit absurd and ridiculous.I wasnt going to say how the case was solved but since you guys tend to judge information presented without reading the original material I will.It was solved by DNA analysis taken off of Ripper letters and envelopes and letters and envelopes written by Walter Sickert,also DNA evidence produced off of Sickerts painting overalls that he habitually wore while painting.He may have covered his tracks well in victorian England standards but, not to present day technological standards,very big difference considering they didnt even use finger print analysis back then.Read the book then judge.

Thank you Red As I said I never researched & Only remember parts of the movies & documentaries on tv.
No I'm not putting you down, by doubting the book is any different then all the fictions & Speculations, just used to all the different opinions that have been
brought forth over the years.

OH & since the book is not about Local eastern Pennsylvania History,
I'm sorry to say my attention span would not get past one page without me forgetting what the first paragraph said. by the time I read the 2nd. page I would have forgotten the first & second page, be taking 4 Tylonol & Lying down to get rid of a Migrane

No offense taken Jeff,just the fact to many people jump and judge without reading.The woman that wrote the book is the author of 18 books.She staked her reputation on writing this one.I give her credit for that and its one of the reasons i believe it.The other reason is what the FBI agent said,there is an incredible amount of coincidences,just way to many to ignore.Sickert even left clues in his paintings.One of his paintings was even titled Jack the Rippers bedroom.When i bought the book i didnt think i would be interested in it.My first thought was oh no another jack the ripper book.But it only cost me 2 bucks so what the hell.It turned out to be so well written,put together and researched that it is one of the most interesting books ive read.I read it in one day.And since then i read it two more times.I bet it would hold your interest.

Met Patrica years ago, here in Lynchburg, Va.; small lady... HUGE intellect. Law Enforcement had a conference & she was main speaker... lived in Richmond, Va. at the time (or has a home, there); we had FBI, VSP, cops from the west coast, local cops (LPD), etc. When Scotland Yard (Brits) closes the case... I will believe.
