Never run. Stand your ground and be proud. Those brave men in the civil war didn't run and hide from the opposing sides they took up arms and took charge for what they believed in. I'm proud to be a southern man;)

My buddies and I were talking bout that. We could set up toll roads at state lines and if u were a union sympathizer you payed a toll and the southern state residents got the share of the revenue

Ok fellow southerners. If I recall we got the crap kicked out of us, KGC or no KGC, phantom riches, dixie cups, confederate money and all. Need we repeat that? Hope this isn't political, but I flunked government twice in college, then ended up sometimes teaching it. Ahhh, America...

Let's see; the last time this happened 600,000 American lives lost. Mississippi spent 1/3 of it's total state's revenue in artificial limbs in 1866. Yeah, sounds like a wonderful idea. Let's send some more of our kids off to die just because the election didn't go the way we wanted. In the original question, you failed to define just who you meant by "us".

p.s. What does "sucede" mean? I couldn't find it in the dictionary.

Its not a north south confrontation, but if hypothetically it was conditions are totally different now, in 1860 there was no industry in the south other than cotton, not that way now..

Its all mute since it will never happen as far as succession, class warfare is another story.....

Please remember our rules and keep politics out of it so thread is not locked...

Succession ,or being an independent country would involve so much international trade and relations, civil services and infrastructure plus many more things.
All would need to be in motion before hand, preferably before a vote. Civil war 1860 is over but much to learn. The south did alot of things right. No offence to any one but one of her challenges was a democracy of individual freedom for every person allowing personal choices to affect tactics, it was very democratic.(era more than party) I doubt today their success in succession as a common cause could be matched as far as organization of a whole even with the many bumps they encountered. But were some thing like it to happen i see no advantage and would try to carry on as near formal normal as possible.

Or just take the ez way and hang the perps for sedition. Naw!

One of the biggest traps some have is falling into the mold of "angry white men".
One thing for sure, there is no way to keep politics out of something that is by it's nature, political.
Politics today are best avoided because,
Too many are angry.
No body changes anyone's mind.
Some become isolationists and want to surround themselves with like thinkers. Somehow that's thought to be intelligent.
Forgetting that an argument actually has rules and about 156 argumental fallacies that some seem to pride themselves on ignoring.

No one should have to be exposed to today's politics w/o actually choosing to. Not healthy.
I gotta go.....~(.)(.)~

The succession threat is nothing new, they've always been making those threats to stir the radical masses. Nothing will ever come of it, never has come of it. It's just an means of getting attention and trying to apply pressure by the big boys so they can get what "they" want.

Doubting that arkansas will get enough signatures on petition by tomorrow what do some of you think will come of these online petitions wanting to secede. I was really hoping arkansas would get enough signatures just to see what or if anything happened.

I doubt that there are enough people in Arkansas who can write to get enough signatures for that matter :)

I kid, I kid :)

And what makes you think seceding would eliminate corruption, high taxes, dishonest politicians, etc.? All of those things seem to be pretty evenly distributed amongst both parties as far as I can tell.

What makes you think it wouldnt? As parties are not being discussed here your question becomes irrelevent.

I believe in time with the current class warfare, politics, and the U.N. it will happen. I would choose to live in a state/country that stood for personal freedom and zero U.N. involvement!

the question is not irrelevant. Power corrupts.

The problem with "secession", not "sucession" is: once you're out on your own or are you going to have little enclaves in non seceding areas or are ya gonna go for the big enchilada and grab Rhode Island? Studies have indicated that it's a minority that is thinking about doing this so if it were to happen be prepared for some very lean times, leaner than now, probably leaner than you can imagine.

If it happens, I'm going to the place where education and science hold sway. Don't know where that's at at this point but I know it's not in Oklahoma.

Times might be lean for awhile but at least I would have personal fredom and personal fredom made this country ultra wealthy...history would repeat.
