I don't know how many of you are familiar with the UN's "Agenda 21". If you aren't Google it and hold on to your seat, if you are then you know about their plans about where the population will live. Well I was listening to the commercial that Fred Thompson has on the "Reverse Mortgage" thing when he said something that perked up my aging grey cells. He said "this is a government backed program" and those cells started scrambling around and up popped the idea. The UN is Socialist, we have the Socialist in the W.H. and so are most of the department heads and if the gov. is behind this thing then would it be too much of a stretch to think that it is part of Agenda 21.

They buy the house back from the old folks who probably have it paid off so anything they get is pure profit. I assume that if they expire before the contract is fulfilled the remainder would go to heirs, but the house wouldn't it belongs to the bank/government. Since their ultimate plan is to take over the banking industry as well as major manufacturing then the bank would actually be the gov.. And after a decade or two the gov. would own it all and no one would be the wiser until it was all over and done with.

Gramps, I am vaguely aware how these reverse mortgages work. I think someone would be better off to sell the home instead of do this as you would end up with more money. as far as agenda 21....very scary and you are wise to keep your eyes open. You could be onto something but I think more than likely the U.N. will just seize properties with very little to no compensation. Govt. backed probably has more to do with socialist AARP than anything. But again I think these reverse mortgages are a real bad deal.

Said the same thing about a year ago here (I think I mentioned it here) and two years ago on another forum, others have said it too.

I believe it is an effort to remove all property from the hands of private owners. Then you can be herded into the cities where we can be more easily controlled. Less of a walk to the 16 hour job at the Chinese run sweat shop as well.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has prepared a study for Congress over the state of reverse mortgages in the nation. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is worried about reverse mortgages having a damaging effect on seniors who borrow them against the equity in their homes during retirement.
