Every time there is a crisis involving a deranged shooter, there is an immediate uproar from the politicians and the huddled masses for gun control.

The President (and Govenors) appoint a Chairman and Executive Committee to investigate and to provide potential solutions.

Eliminating automatic or semi-automatic weapons, or reducing or limiting the capacity of interchangeable clips or magazines will not reduce or eliminate future catastrophic shootings.

Disarming the citizenry is not a valid direction...

Criminals or people bent on being armed are not influenced by political saber rattling...they will get their guns outside of legal means.

Within months, gun control will again be old news and will die a silent death.

The politicians will have garnered their 15 minutes of fame... The Executive committee will have completed hearings on the matter and have published the findings.

The President will have retired or moved on to more important matters.

Tell you how ridiculus this is, my stepson obtained a handgun on the street, and if taken away, he will get another, and another, and another....

Since most of the school shootings (and other mass shootings) are perpetrated by the mentally ill, institutionalize the mentally ill and the government may have a better chance of reducing these events. Might want to classify the politicians as mentally ill and improve our governments problems.

Write your senators. I have written mine 4 times giving my concerns on this and that I will not abide by any executive order that violates constitution or by passes Congress. Marco Rubio Is the one I have written the most, he is a Rep was on the list of possible VPs on Rep tkt.
He is advocate for the right to bear arms, his parents fled Cuba before he was born and his father told what happens when you disarm the people...

Dont just complain, make our voices heard. I still feel a tax protest is a great way to protest. Boston Tea Party 2. It is a step that can be tried before there is more drastic steps taken that can't be undone....

Problem is, in the big picture, there's obviously not that many Americans protesting a possible gun control measure. It's just that the much smaller portion is protesting loudly. The smart ones are remaining quiet, not showing their hand, not telling the lion what they are going to do to him tomorrow if he doesn't eat them tonight. I still say many gun advocates are their own worst enemy, their posturing and threats and propaganda turning even more of the much larger general public against them, and I'm including many general purpose gun owners like myself as being part of that much larger general public. "Civil war, armed rebellions", etc.,......I'm sure that's drawing exactly the type of attention gun owners don't want or need.

Sure, no doubt. But respectfully, in the big picture it's still only a very small portion of the public, and much of what's being posted is the same as negative press. Petitions, a measly 25'000 signatures, if 50 of them were presented all at once it's still only representing a very, very tiny fraction. Heck, we have many individual cities with larger populations then that, the total of those 25 petitions not even enough to sway the vote in most states. So in the big picture, it's still just small potatoes.
