And all without the need of weapons - go figure. Would these hugely successful movements have succeeded if they chose violent uprising instead? Would love to hear any opinions on that.

India having been fleeced of wealth (follow the missing gold)and the site of more up coming protest was left to its own devices. The result of how many years of peaceful protest resulted in 15 million displaced. With a law broken back during salt protest was that still peaceful protest?

How long did it take for India to gain freedom, 200 years and there was lots of combat in that time.

Do you think we would wait that long to recover a right guaranteed by our
Bill of Rights.? I wouldnt, I want surrender it to begin with.

Should the civil rights movement have used armed revolt to reclaim their constitutionally given right to vote - never mind life, liberty and pursuit of happiness? Would the movement had been as successful?

I completely agree gap metal. It would have been easy for the civil rights movement to turn very violent. Some small fringe groups such as the panthers did use violence ( and it was a miserable failure). Southern white citizens and governments certainly used their second amendment rights to full avail against the movement. But violence was not met with violence. If the civil rights movement took up violent revolt to enforce their constitutional rights would it had been a successful movement?
