squiggy,

Case in point in Montreal where I live a psychiatrist killed his ex wife and 2 kids....you being in the medical field know that you're sworn to save and protect lives it comes with the territory.

It's obvious that something in his psyche snapped and he went over the edge....very unfortunate but we're all human and we all have a limit as to how much we can endure.....just a fact of the human condition.

Regards + HH

Bill

"Google" Man Behind Alabama Hostage Stand-off; Jimmy Lee Dykes: Paranoid, Poor, and "Particular". Stated to have grown & smoked Pot, bet on dog races to win $$$$$$$ (NEVER won anything), lived in his truck for @ 2 years (building a small fire in a can in his truck to keep warm in winter), had RAGE against FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (NOT Obama), blacks, Jews, refused SSI/SSDI; carried pistol in waistband, smoked cigarillo, addicted to REGULAR coffee...

REFUSED SSI/SSDI; must have been "dealing" (Pot) to support his gambling on the dogs... Dunno.

Fresh digs. Seems not a storm related inspiration. not sure who's property though he appeared to claim it. "Claims" of distrust of government.

Rebel,Very unfortunate that is what happens when you live in your brain 'thought',there is another place to live, but, unfortunately to many people are frightened by it,so they go back into there ''thought world.Ever give it a second look why 'accidents' happen? Body in the moment, mind somewhere else, not consciously aware of what is going on in the "now",it's always "now" no past,no future "now." All sorts of disasters are waiting to happen in this mindset, sooner or later the laws of chance will claim someone. Now,what I have said is either true,or, I am the craziest person to ever live! Oh,that "other" place is in the light of reality!

Why is it questioned whether he was a "prepper" or not? Does being a "prepper" signal that you are a madman? To an extent, I consider myself a prepper and a pro-pepper. It's legal to grow and smoke pot in California, any quack doc will write you a medical reason for the money, it's common for property owners around here to "patrol" their property to check fences and look for signs of trespassing and poaching unlike living on a 40 X 60 foot lot in the city. My son lives right behind me and has confronted people on his property on a number of occassions for messing with livestock, throwing trash onto his property and letting their pitbulls onto his property. In EVERY case, my son was armed. The federal government is the LAST entity that I would trust to do anything for me, i.e. FEMA, IRS, William Holder.....need I say more? If anyone that served in Nam is a potential nutjob we have a lot to worry about. Have to wonder though, is it the service in Nam that causes PTSD or is it the training to kill the government gives you that detaches one from reality? I don't think being poor makes you crazy either. Is there something in Cigarillos that causes one to go off? I heard the reason he shot over a vehicle some days before the incident was people were tearing up a dirt speed bump he had put on the dirt road by his property. Given this info I would assume people were speeding by his place causing dust problems. He probably put the speed bumps (right or wrong) in the road to slow people down. Then, when people started tearing those up, he went off; reached his limit. There are a lot more killers out there that never served in Nam, never prepped, never patrolled property or had bunkers, never smoked or grew dope, never smoked Cigarillos, never carried a gun in their waistband, never disliked the government etc. etc. It's not cut and dry as to what causes someone to go off. Heck, "temporary insanity" used to be a very popular defense. They didn't go back decades looking for a root cause of someone's actions, they admitted one instance could cause somone to kill.

The temporarily insane plea is successful less then 1% of all times it is used to defend oneself in a court of law. Here is a site that will give some good information on this.

Lets get down to reality. What he did was wrong. No two ways about it. Why he did it is another story. We have lost so much freedom and privacy that it is getting down to the breaking point for some that have served to defend it. The constant erosion is taking it's toll. It appears that legislators feel there job is to constantly pass more and more restrictions on the people. I think we have reached the Stamp Act stage again! Frank

What freedoms and privacies have we actually lost? Are you talking about the patriot act?
