Thank you for your patience and understanding! :notworthy:

We will soon resume to a somewhat normal life.....

Nah, I promised to help my locksmith Friend in the morning.....

Yet,
I still have some Tanqueray and a half or two of some limes.....

How much trouble can I get into?

Signs You're Getting Too Old To Drive

You think an SUV might be too small to be safe.

It takes more than four minutes to get out of your car.

When backing into a parking spot, you just back up until you hear something.

It scares you to drive the speed limit.

The only thing you pass on the road anymore is the Amish.

You use cruise control because your leg fell asleep.

You use cruise control at 25 mph.

You inquired if the dealership could install magnifying glass for the windshield.

Your turn signal has been on since 2003.

Your bumper sticker endorses Eisenhower.

Sorry TGF but that ain't a joke, too many of those apply, more like a hard dose of reality-LOL!

Who?
Rodney?

Oh, yeah....

A little background about Rodney and the time period first....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I called the number from a newspaper ad looking for room-mate possibilities.....
This was about the time Clara Peller could be seen in commercials for Wendy's, asking,
"Where's the Beef!?"
Anyway, I spoke with his Mom and arranged to meet him when he got off of work that evening. She told me that he was a Navy Vet, close to my age and DEEPLY RELIGIOUS....
OK........ :icon_scratch:
So, I met Rodney and when I mentioned the "deeply religious" statement,
He grinned at me and said, "Don't believe everything you hear!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Anywho,

I'm singin' and feelin' the power of music with Rodney's Mom.
In Augusta, Georgia.
In this Pentecostal Church.
On the front row.
On Christmas morning.....

After an hour or two of this, still lookin' around for Rodney,
the service winds down and just before the preacher "releases us to do God's work,"

ON THE BACK ROW,
I see Rodney slowly rise up from the pew, yawn and stretch.

REALLY!?!

clifton_powell_pinky2012-wide.jpg

"Oh yeah! We gonna talk about this later."

When we got back to the house, he agreed to a months worth of dishes and housecleaning or a serious butt kicking!

Could never really get mad at him, though......
After all, he is the one who helped me learn how to play a guitar! :notworthy:

For his birthday, I had a tee shirt made for him.
I also supplied the keg....:occasion14:

My plans for this summer's travels have been diminished of late....

My PAID FOR, poor ole truck is close to needing repairs that exceed it's value....sniffle...

And, facing a move somewhere soon....

I'm going to work on liquidating my "vast empire."

Ebay what I can the smaller items and have another big garage sale or auction.
Again.

Keep the important and significant items---release the "stuff" back into the market and start anew and Fresh!

My finances, looking ahead, show signs of strain...

In my favor, I can pack, load and drive any straight truck. :thumbsup:

Due to the info I learned in my GIS class presentation, the locations of PTSD Facilities in Georgia and Florida....

I'll do some research on Universities nearby.

Oh,

Did I mention?

Only a few hours left.

Till what?

Until

I

GRADUATE!

Best,

Scott

I'm sorry.
Don't I have some assignment due or something?

"Souvenirs"

All the snow has turned to water
Christmas days have come and gone
Broken toys and faded colors
Are all that's left to linger on
I hate graveyards and old pawn shops
(and my box of memories....)
For they always bring me tears
I can't forgive the way they rob me
Of my childhood souvenirs

[Chorus:]
Memories they can't be boughten
They can't be won at carnivals for free
Well it took me years
To get those souvenirs
And I don't know how they slipped away from me

Broken hearts and dirty windows
Make life difficult to see
That's why last night and this mornin'
Always look the same to me

I hate reading old love letters
For they always bring me tears
I can't forgive the way they rob me
Of my sweetheart's souvenirs

Here's some more John Prine...

"Illegal Smile"

When I woke up this morning, things were lookin' bad
Seem like total silence was the only friend I had
Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won
And it was twelve o'clock before I realized
That I was havin'... no fun

[Chorus:]
But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Last time I checked my bankroll,
It was gettin' thin
Sometimes it seems like the bottom
Is the only place I've been
I Chased a rainbow down a one-way street... dead end
And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen

[Chorus]

Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls
Tryin' to get away
From all the ears inside my walls
I dreamed the police heard
Everything I thought... what then?
Well I went to court
And the judge's name was Hoffman

Ah but fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun
Well done, hot dog bun, my sister's a nun

[On the 1997 LIVE ON TOUR Prine ends the song with:]
Well done, son of a gun,
Hot dog bun,
Attilla the Hun,
My sister-in-law is an Irish nun

Dig?

Best,

Scott

For some reason, your posts with music videos only show up for me as a link. :icon_scratch:

I don't know anything about smart phones, apps or that junk.... I'm still runnin' with a "flip phone." :tongue3:

But, I'll follow the link 'cause I know that you'd never "steer us wrong!" :thumbsup:

In fact, I've shared this song on my Facebook page! Thanks!

All Graduation tickets have been delivered and those who attend are my best Friends in Georgia.

Gearhead couldn't attend....

The last time I graduated anything, not counting Military, was nearly 40 years ago.

High School.

Back then, no one saw much hope or potential for ole Scotty,

Heh, Heh... I'm smiling now!

I will walk the stage of accomplishment, hard work, determination and passion this Sunday, on Mother's Day.

How Special to me....

For Mom.

Your Love, guidance and encouragement to be happy, be a Friend and always learn has come to fruition!

And Thanks to my Friends , my Fellow Critterz who have always been on my side! :notworthy:

Pictures in a coupla days. If y'all are good, I might have a short video....

But, tomorrow....

It's yard work day.
The next day?

"Well...."

"I'm an educated man."

"A man of Letters."

"UFO CIA"

"I'm a man in the know."

"Gotta pay if you wanna play"

(Uh-oh...Scott's thinking of writing lyrics for a musical tonight.....Something about a comedy and the "Cold War." Just leave him alone. The bottle's nearly empty....:tongue3:)

Best,

Scott

Example:

Yes. From "Annie, Git Your Gun"
A production presented by the University of Kansas that I found my way to being a "Right Spotlight Operator" from the balcony when I was about 16.
I quickly learned the score and special effects....

My High School English Teacher encouraged me to attend a dress rehearsal one evening and from there, I was hooked!

Hmmm...

Something like making chicken salad out of chicken.....feathers?

It looks like either rings, valves and seats or both....

Y'all know my Landlord....

Well, I'm talking with him about a truck he's thinking of selling....

A chevy. Bigger than my little S-10.

A real gas drinker....

But I'm a "homebody."

MPG is a minor factor for me........
