I considered keeping it and swapping in a four cylinder (4bt) Cummins in place of the 318 it had...

They had a beautiful 1 ton 4wd with the manual 6 speed, ooh ooh ooh did I want it! That sucker would pull the 5th wheel and the patio boat at the same time and not even work up a sweat.

fowledup,

Hopefully you'll get it sorted out....take it slow and hopefully you'll get over the pain without tons of meds.

Regards + HH

Bill

The knee is coming along nicely, got the full length immobilizer off about a week and a half ago. Now I get to go back to physical therapy to try and regain some mobility, but all in all I'm alot happier then I was. I knew something wasn't right. However, again I know something isn't right with the shoulder, hurts worse than it did before surgery and I can no longer throw a ball right handed or do much overhead. Naturally no surgeon is gonna second guess his own work so, not sure how this will play out. They are trying to tell me this is as good as it gets. I keep saying that is unacceptable because it was better before surgery. Surgery is supposed to correct or at the very least stop any further damage, neither of which has happpend. Now they want me to do another round of therapy and start a routine injection regime. My answer -BS! I didn't go thru the surgery to get monthly injections the rest of my life. They can kiss my azz! The pain of getting them ain't worth a week or twos relief. To be honest I just want to be done with the fricken Dr.s and get back to it, whatever it ends up being.

All this talk of vehicles....

Saw a truck today that I'm liking pretty good.....
My truck is day to day at this point.

It's really my fault...I haven't taken care of it properly since I've owned it.

Sure, I've replaced brakes a few times, a clutch job once or three times, but,
Change oil? Nah. Not this month. Or next.....maybe after that....

Coolant? Nah.
Plugs? Once or twice, maybe 3 times....
Hell, I've NEVER washed it!

8 years is probably the most I could have hoped for on a '99 S-10....under those conditions....

Yeah, and I delivered pizzas in this truck for a coupla years when I started back to College 5-6 years ago!

Guess I'll have to get my hands dirty a bit more often than I did.....

Best,

Scott

So Scott what is the truck you like bud? I'm not a coin collector as I like to dive or peruse the beach for anything of value. What's the story behind that 1999 penny fine sir?

First of all,

I'd like to thank my Friends for the birthday wishes! :notworthy:

It was an uneventful, memorable day.

As an adult, my Birthday has always been to me about my Mom, who gave me Life.....

Again this year I had not cake and ice cream.

I made brownies, a milkshake with my Mom's old Oester milkshake maker, and many tears of memories....

Ahem!

Always my Best Wishes, Friends,

Oh!

My bad!

You asked about the truck, didn't you?

Well, in year model, I'm going backward 2 years.

And It's not a Chevy/GM. It's a Ford.
4 cylinder, 2.5 standard 4 on the floor w/overdrive. A Ranger longer cab.

It's clean, been WELL maintained and is available for about a grand or twelve hundred.
My locksmith Friend and I do a lot of work for this guy who runs a NAPA car repair shop and it was his Father in Law's truck.
Now the Father in Law wants a newer truck.

I haven't heard it run or look it over too closely yet....

I may have just slid safely into home under the catcher's tag!

Be Well, Friend!

Best,

Scott

(Helpful image of similar truck. Color is about the same. Perhaps more burgandy? Comes with a bed toolbox. If this "romance" gets serious, I'll post actual photos....)

Yep, the 5.9!

Can't beat the 5.9!!!
Best diesel ever put in a pickup to date.
This is a fact and almost universally accepted even amongst ford and Chevy guys.

Dram,

Yep. Rear wheel not front or 4 wheel.

A basic, "Start when I say so, get me there and back safely and I'm used to '2-60' air conditioning!"

Dang!

"I'm missing her already...and she's not even mine."

Hmmmm....

Sounds like a song lyric to me. How 'bout you?

Best Wishes,

Scott

You know, there's something to be said for a basic truck! A lot less to go wrong!

Just be sure there is zero blue smoke as those motors and the closely related 2.3 fords were known for rings not staying seated. Back in the day it was a Ford warrantee procedure to dump (I believe Ajax or borax) down the intake while it was wide open throttle in a attempt to reseat the rings and stop oil consumption. Afterwards they would change the plugs and oil and hope for the best! Fords idea was what do they have to loose? If it didn't work ford was replacing engine either way...
As long as she don't smoke you should be all set.

Now,

When I say that it's, "clean," I'm talking of aesthetics.

The engine was replaced in 2011 I think....

To me, this is a possible "not clean."

How much of a purist are you?

How many miles on this replaced engine? Who did the work?

Like I said, this Fellow runs a National Car Repair Franchise.

"As Allen GrayCloud would say,"

"'Nuff Said."

Best,

Scott

I'll certainly get all information possible before she is mine....

But, I like the way this is looking....

Best,

Scott
