Folks,

Katey Sagal - Like a bird on a wire.

Bill,

Is this the same Katey Sagal from, "Married, With Children?"

----------------------------------------- ----------------------

I let the wheel go...sniffle...
I will wait awhile longer for the Ovation.

I will show, by example, to the Kid, what I teach.

Was a long, but relatively easy day of overtime today.

Printed out the PM sheets, (4), and at 8:00 AM, I was watering the 24 and 36 volt batteries of the pallet jacks and mast lifts.
The Kid came in at 8 also but left at noon.
Just enough time to mentor a bit more....

I spent the rest of the day taking care of due PM's to equipment.

I had taken a sandwich for lunch but got so busy that I didn't take a lunch break.

The Supervisor was also there today and we talked about whether I should return to a later shift.
I said that I had learned a lot in the short time that I had been working there and that I was willing to abide by his decision.
We talked about different time spans for me.
Seems like I can almost suggest the hours of the shift I'll work.
Regardless of the shift that is agreed upon, it will be a shift that I will be the only maintenance mechanic available.

When I finally clocked out and headed home, I pulled up to a red light at an intersection and saw a man standing on the corner with a crudely printed cardboard sign.

The sign only had one word printed on it.
It said, "Hungry."

I rolled down my window, motioned for him to come over and gave him the sandwich I hadn't eaten for lunch.

The look in his eyes told me that he was truly grateful.

Hope all had a safe and happy holiday weekend!

My Best Wishes Always,

Scott

Scott,
Good job on paying it forward...karma will pay you back down the road.

Bill

Bill,

I feel that karma has already repaid me.

How hard is it for a 58 year old man to find a job? "Karma?"

I feel as though I am reaping the benefits that I have previously given to others in the gaining of my current position.

Therefore, and because of my nature, I will always live to help others.
I do not expect nor require any re compensation for my actions.
I do for others without expectation of reward; for my actions are not for sale of any reward.

Albeit a slight degree of altruism, I deeply enjoy the moments that I can connect and provide help for another.
Perhaps why I volunteer for different causes....:icon_scratch:

Be Well, my Friend.

In the meantime,

I'll tune up my guitar and play some new riffs to my satisfaction.

How else does one spend a Monday evening?

Do you have riffs and find words or do you have words and find riffs?

Or both?

I'm feeling sad because I couldn't help the hungry guy more than I did.....

And I can't seem to get my guitar tuned to my satisfaction.

Before I become angry, I'll put my guitar away, to play, for another day,
and think of how I might help another. The next coming day.

I'll be OK.
Yes, I'll be OK.
I always am. :coffee2:

Words that may be used in my next song.....
Perhaps I'll pack two lunches from now on.....

I'm now cooking a lunch for two for tomorrow.

Whether for me and the kid or for an unknown stranger.

In doing so, I feel a certain peace in my soul....

I remember a time, not so long ago, when I was hungry....

"And, Does not a Friend provide for their Friend? Whether known or unknown? All are my Friend"

Perhaps a bit more info about "The Kid."

He's 19 and is supposed to graduate High School this December.

I've offered to help him with his studies but have yet to be asked for help.

I've told him that education is most important towards his future goals.

But, like I said, he's "headstrong."

I have offered wisdom of vocabulary, enunciation, spelling, grammar and have offered to kick his a$$ if need be.

What more can I offer?

Other than my Friendship, Strength and Guidance....

I hope to attend his graduation!

I've been "played" before.
And certainly, I'll be played again.

But, having been played so many times, I've come to realize the truth....

Most of the time, I sleep with dreams that I don't remember.
Certainly, you don't remember all of your dreams.

But, unlike you and others,
I have dreams that are haunting to the soul.
I wake sometimes ready to kill....
NEVER WAKE ME!

In many dreams, I faced life and death.
Sometimes I'm killed. The pain of death is realistic.
Mostly by gunshot.

In some dreams I am chased. By a killer. Or some monster. Or I was lost.
Mostly, though, my dreams are unpleasant.

I wake, sometimes in a sweat, gasping for breath and then cannot go back to sleep.

I have studied about individuals whom have had sleep disorders and
committed suicide rather than face sleep and their dreams.
This appears to be a serious affliction.
Not that I would ever succumb to this extreme, but others might.

You see why I seek psychology to learn?

I still seek answers....
Perhaps when I learn the answer, I can help others....
Learning on the edge.....

And now, it is time for me to sleep again tonight.....

See Y'all tomorrow....

Once, a few years ago, I was talking with a fellow Vet, and he said to me,
"Scott, sometimes one's life seems close to the end."

I took another sip of my beer and said, "What do you mean, Jim?"

He said, "I feel like my life is over."

I set down my beer, looked him square in the eye and said,

"Jim, your life has always been important. Think of your Friends from Nam. What would they say?
Think of your Friends here. And think of me.
I love you, Brother. Your life is as important to me as anyone I know.
I would give my life to save you. That's how much you mean to me."

He looked at me and said, "If I mean that much, Get me another beer."

I hugged him and got him another beer!

Best,

Scott

My Friend Jim died last year of cancer.

What is death but a new journey?

Good night, Friends.....
