If anyone ever tells you they know the direction of the market immediately ignore anything they say that follows! That said with a slowly improving economy I think the market should do pretty well over the next couple of years. I'd be more worried about long bonds and precious metals at this point.

Best thing to do might be to average it in overtime instead of all at once. Do a third, third a third over 6 months or a year if you think the market will be choppy.

I like being known as the critters as opposed to being called the plugs. Something just not wholesome about the plugs!!

Do we have any other thoughts? We need a name. And beyond not believing out government is going to kill it all we need some other beliefs.

If be a little careful about gold / silver. They had a big run and a lot of people are very long. I always get nervous when you start seeing tv shows talking about an investment. Usually means your topping out. Remember all the house flipping tv shows right before the real estate market collapsed? When Joe Schmo quits his job to hunt gold in Alaska or the amazon something is wrong!! If everyone already owns gold there not many left to push the price up and you have big big money hedge funds very long. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Actually it was 42. And I still do a little consulting work for some small public companies. Of course a few months after leaving the work world the wife served me with papers and wanted "her half". So don't be too envious.

I can't remember who the dude was but it was just before the crash of 29.....the guy was getting his shoes shinned and the shoe shine boy was talking about what stocks he had bought.....the guy went to his office and sold every stock he owned.....he figured there was no one left to buy and cashed out....lol.
