Interesting topic. Lots of different views. I know what PTSD is to me. I volunteered and not asking for them to keep their promises anymore. I can understand some being angry, you don't recover from certain things. I was medically discharged over 20 years ago. Never treated although I asked. Have had derogatory info placed in my medical files with no recourse to have it addressed. My worst enemy in all this was the many VSO who say they will help you. Im a walking, talkin, example of what is wrong with how PTSD is dealt with. Peter Pan had it right, think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts............be scared people. Be very scared.

THAT won't help... (Peter Pan Thoughts aka PPT); MUCH deeper than that.

CR, why did you do 6 tours? and more than anything, why did you join? I'm not trying to analyze you but I told everyone why I joined. and that was to fight against communist aggression. I still remember my conversation with my best friend at that time when he asked, "Why you?" I told him that if someone didn't do it, I would be the one to try. I must have been nuts. We've all seen how that police action turned out and how many policemen died there. BTW, whatever happened to that war against communist aggression? Seems they're our favored trading partners now.

Russia...? WAS USSR; NOT sure WHAT they are now. ONLY North Korea, China, & Vietnam claim Communist ideology. China has SOME weird "spots" (Hong Kong) & Vietnam show SOME capitalistic tendencies...

I had a Friend from Poland,He had lived here 6 years before I met Him at age 36,I asked Him one day why He came to America,His reply was," Communism got so bad in Poland I had to get out of there,I come to America,I see it here too".I suppose a man that lived under that rule is more than qualified to recognize it.

If we were under SOCIALISM... NO ONE would get RICH! Like Romney! Or to help OTHERS... the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; gonna use 'em to train NATIVE children (aka "Indians") in REZ schools to learn computers & "High Tech". Gonna suggest to REZ(S) to create jobs for their ppl by bringing Computer/High Tech back home from China... etc. There IS $$$$$$$$$$$ for this; FIRST NATIONS can benefit. PROUDLY made in USA - Quallah REZ, NC. THINK ABOUT IT!

Socialist security and Medicare are some of the largest socialist / wealth redistributing programs in the entire world. No big deal - it is what it is. I think it is appropriate for any capitalist system to have socialist programs / safety nets in place.

Social Security... NOT Socialist Security. LOL! I am on SSDI, and have been for 20 + years. DID get Medicare in Virginia; NOW have PRIVATE insurance, which took over Medicare & is BETTER!
Wife also has VIRGINIA state health insurance; NO Obama Care for us...

I just use that term to make the point that the United States has had massive socialist programs in place ever since FDR. These programs now represent some of the biggest items of the entire federal and state budgets. Many posters on this site believe that only dead beats receive money from the government (and before anyone states that they "pay" for SS and Medicare - you get WAY more out of it than people have ever put in). Before we cast stones at "socialist" Europe and Canada and talk about the "deadbeats" using the system we should all fess up that the vast vast majority of ALL Americans will be tapping into socialist programs during their lives. No shame but Lets just call the spade the spade.
