I don't remember any of these commercials, but I can remember my Dad always singing some sort of jingles, so I asked him today if he could remember one to tell me so's I could post it on here. The first one he thought of was for Halo shampoo. I found a site that has it! Yea! I was happy to find it and will be showing it to him...bet that will bring back some memories! It's the 'Halo Shampoo #2' down the list five and on the right. It is neat to hear my Dad recall memories.

As I said, this one was really just for Arkies and Okies. It was the radio slogan of Oklahoma Tire & Supply Company, a retail automotive, hardware, and appliance chain which also specialized in toys at Christmastime.

The Cain's coffee jingle wasn't for ID... just nostalgia.

Yep, good old OTASCO. They were kind of the upgraded mercantile stores--everything to see, wear, and look at. Tires, batteries, auto supplies, tools, hardware, appliances, toys, hunting clothing, guns, ammo, knives, etc.

Hmmm. Ours never had clothing, except maybe some hunting gear. Plenty of the other stuff, though.. It was great hangout for a kid: toys, guns, knives, dangerous tools... and ahhhhhh!, the smell of rows and rows of new tires!

Speaking of Okie-Arkie favorites, how about, "When you buy Griffin's, you know you've bought the best!" Strawberry preserves that would make Smuckers hang their smucks in shame, and a thick waffle syrup utterly beyond praise, vastly surpassing all other brands and blends in the known and presumed universe. Despite the "waffle" name, we always had it on hotcakes. (Some people call them pancakes, not knowing any better.) They still make it, though it's probably a pale imitation of the full-strength original sold in big glass jugs and also in cans. Either way, it's off limits to me now! :P

BTW, OTASCO was where my 1st bicycle came from. As for Griffins, the jars made great drinking glasses. I believe my grandmother had a matching set of 37. LOL But she still used the Mason jars with zinc lids to bring fresh cold lemonade out to the hay and wheat fields. Oh the memories!

Remember the Cain's tea giveaway glasses? Tapered emerald-green with a clear base. I think collectors call them "boopie" glasses. They were a bit thin and prone to breaking. I remember lining up a couple of them, along with some scrounged bottles and jars, atop an old wooden fence in our backyard and having at them with a hand-me-down Red Ryder BB carbine— supposedly illegal to shoot in town, and therefore wielded relentlessly at every opportunity!
