Miss America and her "court" visited our ship while we were on the line off Vietnam in the 60's. That was a nice gesture but the officers kept them from interacting with enlisted. Still, their "service" was appreciated given the way we were treated by the rest of "our" country.

Just a quick note, neither do I. I didn't even watch the pageant last night.

I went to the parade on Sat simply because it was a nice evening out on the boardwalk with my wife.

No, it's simple political correctness ... except they don't allow the dogs or NAGs (National Organization of Women) win. They have to keep some semblance of fairness, so if an ugly woman were to win, folks would know for sure the fix was in.

I can't say all , But I do agree it's like a Halloween contest
and although I wouldn't pick out any particular ones & point out there faults,
(hey I'm no prince, & neither is any prince) there are a few even makeup didn't help imo.
But seriously in a few cases I thought Who Lost, Or is she all the Judges daughter ?
one actually looked like man, only minus the adams apple.
of course sometimes it's the angle the pic is taken

Back in the 70's they had a pageant in California were during a talent contest one of the women during a dance routine did the splits on a orange and it disappeared!!! But the winner did the same on a watermelon and later spit the seeds out. Now that was a show. It was like magic.

My sister won two beauty pageants but I still have to agree with pippinwhitepaws. Break out the paint scrapers!

Paint scrapers,I think for some of them you need cheese grater files.Youre not dealing with paint,your dealing with bondo.

Back in the day they had a pageant in Long Beach, CA. Big Navy base there, and sailors got to escort the girls. I never got picked, made me mad, haven't paid any attention since, and still holding a grudge. FYI, the old Navy base is now owned by China, and they ship their cheap junk to the states through that port.
