BOSTON (AP) — A homeless Boston man who police said turned in a backpack containing tens of thousands of dollars in cash and traveler's checks said even if he were desperate he wouldn't have kept "even a penny."
Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis honored Glen James on Monday, giving him a special citation and thanking him for an "extraordinary show of character and honesty."

Good Header!

They have started taking a collection for him though. Up to $4000 I heard! After Fed and Mass taxes that's like $3.45 take home?

If he takes it, He better hope it's enough to live on for a long time.

with that type of money the Homeless shelter won't take him,
Food stamps will drop him, he'll have to pay for his own
meds ,
He'll have to rent an appartment.
to get rid of the $$$$ & loose his apartment to get back to where he is.

Unless someone helps him out with more then a few $$

May be why he fears $$$

In Albuquerque the cops set up stings using back packs and also cars with keys in them. It's best to leave stuff alone as "finders, keepers" doesn't fly.
I never figured how these stings were legal Sort of feels like entrapment, but I guess taking something outside a building is similar to taking something inside.

in My opinion the Bait car thing is Borderline.
I don't like it, because it tempts kids and klepto's
and no matter what they claim, they don't give them help,
they fine them, making it harder for them to stay straight,
or send them to juvie or jail where others teach them more tricks .

of course in the case of a car, you can't say I thought it was lost,
and since you can't trust cops anymore,
read the papers :laughing7:
I was taking it home to put an ad in the paper.

which you can say on a bag of cash, or wallet with no i.d. etc.

Back Packs ? if I staked it out & it's there 24 Hours, It's going home with me,
Till I can look for a name in it, or put an ad in the Paper

This morning it was just a few dollars from a well deserved $140,000., and counting. Any relatives will now be fighting to take him in.

Important point to consider, many that are 'gifted' all this extra cash for do-gooding, dont actually get to recieve it.

Forget taxes, just wonder where the money trail goes.

It isnt like some nice person who wants to feel good about themselves
hands over a stack of bills to someone who thought they were doing the right thing.

Most often,... the person who did the 'right thing', is left just as they were,
and those wonderful donations,... just go somewhere into etherland never to be seen again.
