Hi all, i know quite a few T.N members like to use a fishing-pool and so i thought i mit start a thread about what sort of fresh water fish you like to catch.Well the water-ways round here have a few different fish but i like to catch this one Murray Cod.They can grow to 300 pounds and water management and restocking has brought their numbers back up.large fish are the main breeders so most people catch and release.When they get too big, bit fatty.About 10 pound good eating.What's your favourite?

Eat: crappie. If ever a fish deserved a better name...

Fishers in northern Thailand netted this huge catfish in the Mekong River on May 1. Nearly nine feet long (2.7 meters) and as big as a grizzly bear, the behemoth tipped the scales at 646 pounds (293 kilograms). Experts say the fish, which belongs to the species known as the Mekong giant catfish, may be the largest freshwater fish ever recorded.

I catch alot of fish. My favorite are very large ones. Most of my bait is larger than what most folks catch.

I fish for northerns, catfish and muskies. I also fly fish for trout and bass.

My favorite to eat are catfish, walleye and bluegills.

i agree with pbk, the smallmouth bass. i think pound for pound they fight as hard as any gamefish you can come across.

Most of the time when we fish the Turtle Flambeau Flowage up near Mercer, WI, we catch and release. But, if we're short on food, we'll save a Bass or two for dinner.
My oldest son loves Northerns. . . Just as my youngest son started to wave a tiny 12-incher that he had just caught in his brother's face, my oldest got sweet revenge this 34-incher.

For freshwater fishing,there is nothing that fights better than a Peacock Bass.Of course you can only catch them in Southern Florida,unless you want to travel out of country.This is perhaps the worlds greatest freshwater gamefish.This fish is like a largemouth bass on steroids with a bad attitude.The Peacock"s violent behavior and amazing displays of sheer strength seem impossible,even for a fish twice its size.Surface lures work the best and these fish can even be caught in the middle of the day even with the sun beatin down on you so hard you'd think your eyelids were gonna melt.Pound for pound,this is the baddest fish i've ever fought.This photo aint me (never caught one this big!) but just looking at this lunker,you'll get the idea.

aw man! i wish we had peacock bass in this part of the country! i can only imagine topwater fishing for one of those monsters! i have seen guys fishing for them on tv, and it looks awesome!

Here's an Arkansas "delicacy" for you... an alligator gar 8' 2" long and weighing 240 lbs., caught in the White River. (One 8' 5" long and weighing 356 lbs. was reportedly caught at Horseshoe Lake, Arkansas in 1931.) Water hunting, anyone?

That would be the Large Mouth Bass. I fished with a club for a couple of years Won Mr. Bass 2002 tiltle with my club. I used to live, eat and breath bass fishing, now I have metal detecting. I am just as avid about it now.

Bass,largemouth and small.Close second is Crappie.The other bassmen may not like this,but I also enjoy setting and running trot lines for the cats.
