I'm following the scandal. A lot of people are displaying raw emotions on interviews without thinking. It will be interesting to see how it plays out when more of the story is revealed and people have more time to think about it. Either way, methinks the Dolphins are in hot water. Fall out will probably be similar to the Saints "Bounty" program.

Do not holding your breath in anticipation, youre in for a very long wait.Well, maybe you should,I dont want to be accused of trying to tell somebody what to do.Please proceed.

RJC: This is a thread on bullying. I was offering compassion and an understanding person that can listen. I will not hold my breath, nor will I rescind the offer. If you feel you are being bullied then I would be happy to do what I can to help you. That is what this thread is all about: understanding bullying and helping the victims.

I would like to comment on the dolphin bullying, and the hazing issue.
First, I would never accept being spoken to, in the manner that incognito spoke to that other fellow. Incognito is attempted to place his "authority" over on the the other fella. Who is incognito to be anyone's authority? Much less, with threats of death and name-calling! Where and how does that type behavior, create and solidify closer bonds? I don't believe it truly does.

As in hazing, it is bullying, I don't care what anyone says. I know for me, personally, I am not going to be MORE bonded to someone who has abused, ridiculed, tortured, or harmed me, in the "name of brotherhood". In fact, it's going to leave me with more of an attitude of, "Yeah, you just wait mf, ONE DAY, one day, your gonna need me". In that, I would tend to turn a blind eye, to someone in need, that had been the perpetrator of abuse. This can have deadly consequences, especially among our military personnel, imho.

The human psyche is a very tender and delicate tool. Give it an environment of hate, abuse, and torture, it could be understandable how some, come up with their moral compasses. (I look at the example of Caligula, whoa! His childhood and upbringing could almost cause one to think, he was quite moderate).
Even murderer's can justify their murder, of someone who "deserved" it.

For everybody who thinks the best way to beat a bully is to fight back...take a look at this article.

Cam Cleeland can relate to Martin-Incognito situation as victim of hazing himself

Stories of NFL players' hazing experiences in other locker rooms have cast some perspective on what's happening in Miami with the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin situation, and it's only making the situation less pretty.

Former NFL tight end Cam Cleeland spoke to the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer this week and relayed his experience with being bullied when he was a rookie in 1998 with the New Orleans Saints — an experience that scarred him mentally and nearly cost him his eye.

Cleeland and his fellow Saints rookies were subjected to a team tradition of having to run a gantlet with pillowcases on their heads, taking hits from veterans — many of them drunk — who were using items to hit them.

[Eric Adelson: Dolphins ready to flaunt dangerous attitude over Martin-Incognito bullying case]

One such weapon was a sock filled with coins. That was wielded by Andre Royal, who connected on a shot with the makeshift weapon into Cleeland's eye socket, almost costing him his vision. The scars of the incident remain raw, 15 years ago.

"Guys were just rabid," Cleeland said. "And you had a couple guys in the front that would stand in a three-point stance, and you would fire off the line like he was going to knock you over."

Soon after, then-Saints head coach Mike Ditka — now an ESPN commentator — offered some advice for how the rookie should have handled things, Cleeland said.

"Coach [Mike] Ditka gave me a speech as soon as it was done," he recalled. "He was like, 'Oh, man, you should have just popped those guys in the mouth.' I said, 'Coach, there were 60 of them.'"

Cleeland was a big man, checking in at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds. He thinks that the idea that somehow because Martin also is a big man and should have defended himself because of that fact is ridiculous.

"Any NFL player that gives Martin a hard time — I don't know him — but any guy who says, 'This guy should have been a tough guy, should have stood up to him,' it's BS," he said.

Cleeland actually was a teammate of Incognito when he was a rookie in 2005. The retired tight end does not paint a pretty picture of Incognito's character based on that season together.

"I'm not afraid to say that he was an immature, unrealistic scumbag," Cleeland said. "When it came down to it, he had no personality, he was a locker-room cancer, and he just wanted to fight everybody all the time. It was bizarre beyond belief."

Bully's and generic azz wholes, not much difference.

We had a bully/azz whole where I had the pleasure of working once upon a time. We did a lot of international travel.

Now, I'm not sure how this happened but when his luggage went through the explosives screener it lit up like a Macy's parade Christmas tree.

Apparently when a block of cheddar cheese is tucked neatly away inside luggage, which has also been sprinkled with a little bit of gunpowder from an 7.62 round, the detector thinks it's C-4 and goes nuts.

Well, imagine his surprise when the bully/azz whole is standing there in cuffs while the inspection reveals that the suspected explosive is nothing more than cheese, and wouldn't ya know, there's also some illegal German gay porn magazines in there too...

Which reminds me, we had a bully in jr. high. Someone would take a small trash can, filled half way with water and put it on the inside of his locker. With a coat hanger you could reach through the slots and lean the water filled can against the door.

Ahh yes, life's little lessons. Sometimes Karma needs a little help~

Perhaps all these video games has stifled that spark of creativity in today's youth, or has taught them to skip the fun stuff and just break out the big guns.

Bullying, like other subjects are in the eyes of the beholder. What may be considered bullying to one person , would not to another. Coming down to brass tacks, we can't expect the authorities to "take care of it" everytime someone thought they were bullied and or offended. I am Not talking about the NFL thing here, that thing is just way out there, that goes into death threats and such. I am offended by people everyday, but nobody cares, because I don't have the media in my back pocket. Whatever the media wants to make a big deal out of, they do, it's their choice - - and the sheeople listen with full attention. - Now get out and detect damnit!!!

I am happy the victim in this video was able to survive what clearly appears to be an attack by a bully. However, the media sensationalizing this propagates false ideas of what it is like to be bullied and what can happen when one stands up to bullies. I would like to make a few points for further discussion. Hopefully, RJC and TheRingFinder will add to the thought generation as they both have taken an interest in this thread.

1. The "bully" in this video is 12years old and the "victim" is 15years old. School bullying usually is from older to younger.
2. The "victim" was both taller and weighed more then the "bully." Again, this is usually not the case. By promoting children to fight back against a bigger bully it may only make the bullying/beating that much worse.
3. The "bully" was not acting along. At the end of the video you can see his friend step in front to protect him. The "victim" reacted suddenly and quickly. His friends had no time to intercede. Had he not been so quick then he most likely would have been outnumbered. Taking out one person in a fight is easy...getting the second, third, fourth....much harder.
4. I think the viralization of this video highlights one particular incident that is not the norm. in essence, it trivializes the problem of bullying and makes it appear that violence is the answer.
5. Lastly, in this situation the bully limped away. What if the bully had gone home, got his father's gun, and exacted revenge?

DJs...there is a song, I think by Kenny Rodgers, "Coward of the County."

Might be worth a listen if you please,
Crispin

I just popped in for a sec. From the first video, it does go to another showing an interview with the boys and one of the boys parents. This is also in Australia, who has had children and young adults die, as a result of getting sucker punched, they call it king hit. The latest news was an 18 yr ol boy just got 4 yrs, for hitting and killing another boy. Some are not happy about the jail time.
