...is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost men. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

My friends, a time to give thanks and time to mourn is upon us all. The question in front of each and every one of us is can we rise above the individual quandary and rise above what is asked of us? Can we transcend the words spoken (or written) and see the truth for what is really is? We live in a world where we are daily reminded of reasons for thanks and reasons to mourn. The smallest child embodies the simplest of dreams and hopes. The biggest bully pushes his will on others without a repose for those he damages in his wake. I, personally, believe that most of us have transcended beyond these simple, narrow-minded views. I believe that most of us have found the extrapolation of pi to be one of the most intangible of tangible of objects.

The question in front of each and every one of us is specific to the individual; yet, embodies us all as a whole. For truly, we have all chose not to live in a vacuum, we have chosen to incorporate at least some tiny part of each other into our daily cognition. How will you respond when death comes calling? Are ready to answer that profound finality or will you wait and see what the next 10,000 brings? Me personally, I have fought a war with death and do not intend to lose at this time or any in the near future.

This day belongs not to any one of us but to all of us. Not of all us; rather, all of us who have given a part of ourselves to the betterment of others. Those of us who have chosen to improve the lives of others by giving the smallest fraction of ourselves. There is hope yet. We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to death and torment. We have no chance of victory against the forces of Mordor; but, we may yet give distraction for two of the gentlest of hobbits.

En memoria, of those who are no longer with us and those who have been banned for speaking their minds, may they swiftly return to us here or in the afterlife.

First they came for Stockpicker,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a realist.

Then they came for Dano and Backbacon,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Foreigner.

Then they came for Spartacus,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't satirist.

Then they came for Jeff-Gordon and Bill from Lachine,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a humorist.

Then they came for Pip, Native-Floridian, and JerseyBen,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a historical scholar.

They they came for Dieselram, GMD52, GIB, and PTC,
and I didn't care because I wasn't a sympathizer.

Then, then and only then, they came for after the Jews,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

Hey Jeff,

Have you noticed how hard it is to start a thread when most of the people who respond are on your ignore list? Wonder what it is they have to say....nah...don't care...

Crispin,

Well thought out post....I see some of your irritants have responded but you probably have them on ignore...probably just as well....not worth expending your efforts.
