Ok... maybe I got something.... how sure are you the distributor got set right? I'm thinking the timing may be too advanced. At idle, the small advance isn't noticeable. Driving up through first the drive train keeps things under control, until it tries to shift. The already advanced timing is further advanced by the engines high RPM's and the engine revs.

That's what I'm thinking too. I took it to the mechanic to get timing advanced but like any other non ase certified mechanic he failed to realize that in order to get the timing and everything just right that the TPS has to be exactly right and upon inspection after I got it home the other day he had not set the throttle position sensor back where it was supposed to be at idle was at nearly 1000 rpm at idle. So I'm assuming he advanced timing and also Mis adjusted the TPS to compensate for the idle

The trans fluid mixing with coolant is on the newer models with the 4.0 I work for nissan and know this for a fact.
200-2001 were not good years for other issues, 2002-2003 were bullet proof I have a 2003 with over 250,000 miles drives like new an no problems
