He took one last puff of his cigarette before tossing the butt into the puddle of water at his feet, flipped up the collar on his long rain coat and adjusted the hood. You see he already knew who the killer was and he also knew that the killer was aware of it. This is why he was standing in the shadows outside the killer's home in the middle of the night because he wanted to see what the killer would do next.
They found his body in the shadows, limp and lifeless and laying in a puddle of water.......

The light at the crossroad was red which gave him a few moments to ponder his predicament. Turning east seemed reasonable. Turning west seemed logical. Proceeding north seemed possible. Could be he already passed it? But hey, he could always stop and ask for directions if he screwed up and got lost.

She didn't know what it was. All she knew was that some kind of a creature was in her dark bedroom and that it was trying to get her. A few moments later she was hiding under her bed.

He was dressed entirely in black from head to toe, a big white sign on a stick shouting, “THIS IS A HOLDUP!”

The cat wasn't sure what to do when the mouse refused to run.

“Drop and give me twenty!,” barked the stony old Sargent. The new recruits immediately hit the floor and held up the cash.
