Pat: You can get a re-usable (you fill with YOUR coffee of choice) so you don't have all the wasted little "coffee containers" from the single cup brewers.

You still make one cup at a time, exactly like you want, but no wasted containers. When you're done, rinse and refill between cups.

If I wasn't such a cheapskate (and I prefer my coffee in volume) though, I'd probably have one. The last time I paid more than $30 for a coffee maker (actually almost a C-Note for a nice one) I regretted the waste. Could have bought more coffee and a cheaper machine.

I like coffee in the morning ('bout a quart at times) . This is my fave.

Highlander Grogg Coffee is reminiscent of a fine Scottish brandy flavor, with hints of caramel, spices and buttery vanilla, all in a coffee roasted to perfection. It’s just the thing for the cold, harsh winter months, or whenever you want a break from the ordinary
I would like to try this :coffee2: it sounds great......I like to try different things sometimes

Huge coffee drinker all my life, especially after 10 years of running
long-haul across 48 states and Canada. I've drank coffee in every state
('cept Vermont) and in every southern province of Canada, including
one of the best coffee's I ever tasted way out in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Filled my large cup late one night on a trip across Kansas...stopped at the
only exit with a "truck stop" for a hundred miles. This place was no winner.
One fuel pump, dirt lot and a single wide trailer for the store. When I walked
in the attendant was dead asleep over the counter, so I found my way to the
coffee pot...closest thing to caffeinated sludge I'd ever seen. Poured enough
cream and sugar into it to make it A) liquid and B) drinkable. Stuff lasted
me all the way to Denver, but my stomach hasn't been the same since. :laughing7:

Quit driving in 2000, and when I got sick in '05 I found that caffeine
(along with alcohol) was a major trigger for vertigo attacks. Once you
survive a few of these 8 hr., brain-spinning puke fests you'll do anything
to keep from having to go through another one.

Wife slowly switched me over to decaf, and I haven't looked back since. I drink
the stuff from the time I get up til I go to bed, and yep, I'm a cranky buzzard
without it. Go figure.

My Doc gave me Welbutrin to Help me Quit Smoking once.
that gave me those vertigo attacks.
Used to stand up & fall to the floor like a Baby would if it tried to stand at 1 month.
& the world would Turn like I was drunk. Definitely not a party Favor.
all I could do was try to sleep it off As I lay there

yes it changed after switching to Death Wish, however,
I don't want to give you bad Info.
All I'm Saying is that was My Experience.
Yes High caffeine coffee lowering Blood pressure Seems odd to me.
Raising My pulse seems more Likely to Me.
I've mentioned to My doctors Old & new of my Results,
they just smile & Shrug it off so :dontknow:

But in the last few years, I haven't had a Bad Checkup as far as their remarks
after the Blood Pressure Check.
I am on Meds though for 33 years.

Take it for what it's Worth.

My grandson, when he was young 5, 6 yrs old, could drink 2 cups of caffeinated coffee, at 10:00 at night, within 30 minutes would be dead asleep to the world, till morning.
I ain't never seen nothing like that! :o
Probably wouldn't a believed it, if I hadn't a seen it, with my own eyeballs. :notworthy:

There are 3 coffee drinkers in my house & we go through 2 & 1/2 pots a day, it is WAR. The one who has to make the pot is deemed the loser. Death Wish coffee is a favorite treat, I would buy it more but it is pricey.

We span the spectrum on coffee. My eldest son takes it black & strong. I like it strong but I need just a bit of milk to cut the acid. My dearest hubby drinks it pale and sickly sweet maybe even flavored :tongue11:. The only time i add sugar to my coffee is when it is followed by a shot of Bushmills :4leafclover:, or in a shot of Frangelico.

Someone told me Kerug was putting chips in the machines to read a chip in the cups so the coffeemaker owners can't use the refillables or other brands, Anyone else heard / know about this?

How to determine if your coffee is strong enough. Most people look for the spoon to stand up in the cup by itself, that's the rookie almost technique. Go to a thrift store or goodwill and get some spoons that are plated. Place spoon in cup wait 3 minutes. If the plating has been stripped, you're good to go! If the spoon is 3" shorter you're in the excellent range. Hint, if the bowl of the spoon is gone and you don't drink it all, pour the leftovers on your weeds! Better than roundup & a lot safer!. DO NOT pour it where your cat can get to it! Ever see a cat do 255 mph in the quarter?

Creamy and sweet normally - Kahlua and black coffee for mornings when I just feel creaky and want to loosen up.

I don't see how that could be true true. I don't use any Keuric brand coffees. Mostly because McDonald's is a favorite. Green Mountain also. The company sends a little plastic dispenser that you can put any coffee you want in it.
Companies that make their coffees in the plastic dispensers that fit the Keuric machines might have to pay a royalty to Keuric but I don't know that.
Before Keuric my favorite way to make the brew was the Cory Vacuum pot. I haven't had one for years as they were glass and were prone to breaking. Maybe it's just how memories are. Like Grandma's homemade bread.

There was a joke spoon that was made of a metal with a low melting point. I think some bismuth alloy. When the spoon was put preferably a strong hot cup of coffee the person stirring the cup would see the spoon melt.
I have no idea to the toxicity of the spoon. Funny around the camp fire.
