The idea is one person, me :laughing7: , starts the story. Another person comes along and ads to what's already been written. It might be one word or several paragraphs. Before long we should have one crazy treasure adventure.

Late one night Sneaky Pete was watching a Treaure Hunting show. In just 30 minutes the host's found 4 diamond rings with a metal detector, 5 ounces of gold panning, and then went diamond hunting and turned up a 6 carrot blue diamond.

Sneaky Pete said, well I can do that and be rich by next weekend. In short order SP quit his job via Twitter, packed a cooler full of champagne, and rushed to the Metal Detector Store where....

he met a wonderful lady who helped him sort through the endless number of metal detectors to chose from. With her advice and helpful information he left the store with his new Garret AT Pro metal detector...and a phone number from that nice lady who had helped. Sneaky Pete had already found some treasure and the metal detector was still in the box.
On his way home his mind was racing. Sneaky Pete had an idea, I need to travel to the far reaches of this planet and find the rarest treasures on earth. Someday I will be on T.V. and I will be the envy of all detectorists....he immediately grabbed his phone and called a travel agent and was mentally making plans to travel to.....

Indiana. He had also been told to join www.treasure.net
While reading some beginner suggestions that are endless, he came across a post by Mzjavert. After reading one of her most recent posts, he became very suspicious. This "Let's Write An Original Treasure Hunting Story" had too many similarities to his own recent experiences. He decided to investigate by making a trip to Indiana and search for the author of this post. Of course, Sneaky Pete also realized, at the very least, he would need someone with literary skills to document,,,

He packed his ghillie suit , a hard loaf of bread ,cheese and ring bologna for a recon of Clark historical park ;thinking a quick swing through Knox county and recovering John Morgans gold cache would be just the thing to finance further adventure.

After a couple hours in the middle of the night being interrogated at the sheriff's station and arguing that the signage regarding no metal detecting was not visible from his parking spot ..S.P. posted bond for violating the park closed at dark rule.
" We understand tired travelers napping a while but your unwinding with a detector violates too many rules".
The meager pile of grubby coins and trash from the playground in sight of the parking lot he had on him when the officers spotlight ruined his night was hardly worth the 150 dollar bond argument seemed to detract from any other intent, and finally he was free to go.
And go he had. Right to a big box store where he bought a cheap shade canopy ,a rolling cooler, some posterboard and a stake.

Still wearing a hoodie and jogging shorts he backed into the lot back at the park.
A rental car with a local plate would be better ,but it was early Sunday morning and no time.

Quickly erecting the shade canopy he leaned on the stake and planted the " Roger's reunion " sign. Probably needed a permit for that " he said to himself.
Looking about the site he watched two joggers headed deeper into the park and passing a dog walker headed the same direction.
Rolling the cooler to the nearby woodline while chanting " risky, risky" and another glance around ; he kicked a pile of duff aside and retrieved his jeans from the night before.
The pantlegs were tied at the bottoms and his belt was cinched tight at the waist.
With a satisfying thump they were dropped in the cooler.
" Just a little farther" S.P. told himself.
A few minutes later the shade canopy and sign were mute testimony and the only sign he had returned.

Just before turning out of the park , a patrol car rolled into the entrance at the other end of the lot.

" Easy does it" S.P. said out loud as he waited for a car to go by....

A jogger runs by and slips a piece of paper in Sneaky Pete's hand. It's in code. Within minutes, using the decoder ring, SP had the message.

"Go to the Money Pit on Oak Island. Bring the lady from the md superstore with you."

What SP couldn't have known at the time was that Gabby had hooked up with THAT Bob from Tnet, and was off studying pebbles in the local riverbed, something about signs and symbols.

So, not wanting to tempt fate, Pete asked his new AT Pro to book him a flight in the direction of Oak Island...

4 aircraft later the de Havilland DHC roared a tight turn over a bay on the s.e. corner of the island.
" It's all ours " said the pilot and turned back out over the water for a straight shot into the bay.
The " Beaver"'s pontoons touched just right with a swish as they touched the bank.

" We gonna dig here"? The pilot asked, while S.P. rummaged around the cargo area with a bit too much clanking for his nick-name on what was supposed to be a quiet in and out run.
"We're 11meters above sea level here " S.P. replied. " Figure trying to get a ship in here with no motor ,at the mercy of the wind and still land at the right time of year to survive working in this cold water, time to fight the hydraulics and build walls to keep out water, all while not being noticed by passing ships or natives . Then you still need to beat the weather to get home ...or you stay here".
"We don't need to dig" , S.P. said as he stepped onto the bank looking at his compass and holding an axe.
"We need to find squarish "boulders" made onboard during a trip to this island".

The chill of a wet wind burned. Dark clouds brushed the treetops as garbage trapped against a fence. A big storm was approaching and Pete knew it wouldn’t be long before they would be in the thick of it. He swung his gear over his back as the tail of his shirt snapped in the wind.
“You best be moving along, their’s a super cell heading our way” “Super cell?” the pilot chirped.
“Yes, a big storm coming in from the south. "
A large drop of rain tapped against a stone and then another as the sky lit up.

As Pete glanced into the sky something caught his eye. "What in the Minelab is that?" Just as he spoke he heard....."Peeeeete". It was a parachute and it was being pushed around with the start of the storm. As the ever closing storm was lighting up the sky Pete could see the parachute falling closer to what appeared to be trees in the near distance and something spoke to him....not like a voice but something from deep inside. As one more big flash of lighting lit up the sky and the parachute disappeared into the tree line the words just came out...."Gabby!"
Pete looked at the Pilot and said..."You have to get me a shore right now!"
The Pilot put his head down and Pete knew something was off. "What's going on" Pete said. The pilot all slumped over told Pete something that would change his life forever. "I'm not a pilot and I cannot read these instruments to save my life and that's not Oak Island!" Pete almost fell over. "What would Indiana Jones do in a time like this?" Pete thought....then Pete saw the inflatable raft.....and without hesitation he said "I hope you can row better than flying that plane because we have to save Gabby." With the storm closing in and before Pete could think....he and his metal detector were paddling away in small inflatable with a pretend pilot looking for a girl on a island in the middle of nowhere. Just as Pete was going over his circumstances in his head he heard a loud thud......as he looked over the side of the inflatable.......

He saw what looked like a large pole reaching up from the depths of the water. The raft had hung up on something.” Not again,” Pete mumbled. Bad luck just seemed to compound by the second. With a swift push of the paddle, Pete connected with the pole and lifted the inflatable off the pole setting it free. He then focused back on Gabby and the situation she was in.

Back when they first met she would come to the grave yard where he worked to visit her departed husband. She would cry for what he would call an eternity only to leave and do it all over again the next week. Eventually visits became shorter and the tears were replaced with little blurbs about her day and soon after that the visits dropped to around once a month.

The first time Pete saw her outside of the Grave yard was at Food lion. He had gone to pick up some Captain Crunch for his dinner and bumped into her in the dairy section. She was dressed professional with a pressed white blouse and blue skirt that draped just below the knees and her shoes had just enough lift to give an extra inch of height but allow confidence in her stance. He saw her as classy but not sassy and was impressed to see a woman of her class hold a gallon of whole milk without guilt.

That was before she gave up her executive position with a national marketing firm to pursue treasure hunting full time.

And led her to take a job with Garrett which led her helping Pete find the perfect metal detector. But how and why is she here now? Pete thought, as the inflatable reached the shoreline of the strange new island.
Once ashore Pete quickly tied off the inflatable and the storm began to intensify. "We had better find some shelter, this storm is gonna be a doozy." The pilot had said to Pete just as an opening in the tree light was lit up from the ever closing lightening. "Over here" Pete yelled out. As the two ran up to the opening Pete reached into his Garret carrying case and pulled out his waterproof flashlight that Gabby had told him was a must for any true relic hunter. With the click of a button the flashlight shined into a opening of dark and desolate wilderness. Pete looked over at Pilot and he shrugged his shoulders as the two entered the woods. About three steps in Pete heard a yell......"HELP!"

Pete stopped and held his right hand up. “Don’t move” Pete whispered. “We have to ask for permission to enter.”

“Say what?” Pilot retorted.

Pete lowered his hand and got down on one knee. He then put his thumb to his nose and forehead before making the sign of the cross. This was something he always did before entering a forest or jungle or natural setting that people had no business being around. It’s not that he was particularly religious or superstitious but after working in a grave yard for several years, he saw things that could not be explained. He heard things that forced him to look at the world in a different light. Were they figments of his imagination? Maybe, but Pete was not a gambling man. He would cover his bases as he saw fit. He would throw salt over his shoulder as needed and even visit the occasional priest, or witch doctor or whoever was more convenient...

A stiff breeze blew a Rosary into Pete's hand.

Permission granted.

Pete noticed that the Rosary was heavy, very heavy. How could he have missed this. It was 18k gold. This was important. What direction did it come from? The SE.

"We need to go this way and quickly." Pete plunged into the jungle without waiting to see if the pilot waa following.
