In all my years I have never seen so many mosquitoes...

I will take this opportunity to thank the inventor of this handy dandy device that gives me great satisfaction every time I hear it *pop*.

The only way to truly take action against those nasty blood sucking bass terds.

Friggin LOVE these things...

The harbor freight "electro swatter" is the best one.
You can convert it to 9 volt power.
It will then explode yellow jackets......

Neighbor says "just wear repellant"...

Screw that.

First I hate that crap...
Second I hate the thought of having to constantly wear it... especially in sweltering heat.
THIRD...
Repellant does NOTHING to "fix" the problem.

Now... I know if going into woods etc... you cannot stop and zap every bug and carry that thing around... so you do need repellent to avoid certain "other" bugs as well.
But...
For me around the house.

I want to eradicate... not just avoid and allow them to breed into larger numbers.

Every time I hear a zap I think...

"there's one less".

They're bad in my neck of the TN woods this year too. We've had almost daily rain showers for a couple of weeks and there is standing water in all kinds of spots. I worked in my garden this morning in sunlight and still got ate up, being in a shaded area is just asking to have your blood drawn out by these pesky varmints. I was going to detect an old house site today but abandoned the idea as verging on lunacy while I hide out inside my home.

One less is definitely best!!! :icon_thumright: Deet really isn't that safe to wear because of all of the chemicals in it either. I've found the best repellent to use is fresh, peppermint plants. Just crush up some leaves and stems and rub it on your skin and stick the remainder in your pockets hanging out. They also repel ticks and other nasty insects. You can put it on your pets too without harm. It works way better than Citronella plants. I have them planted in my yard where people congregate especially. They are easy to grow and will spread really fast. Oh and it also makes you smell good too...

I'm having trouble with not only mosquitoes but deer flies or horse flies also. I keep a can of cutter repellent in my bag with as much deet as I can find. It keeps them away and lets me focus on what my detector is trying to tell me. With out the deet the bugs here keep coming at ya.

I just spray my clothes with a little bit of sage or mint oil. Last all day and keeps all bugs away. Good old native trick my folkss taught me when we lived on the rez. Tons of misquitos and biting flies. The oil always worked.

I need no deodorant...

I smell wonderful already. :P

Besides...

I put a tuna fish sandwich under each arm everyday... and I don't smell like any ordinary guy (Steve Martin).
