All I know is that bird is a badass. Seriously though youíre right who taught them this. They had to have watched someone.
Digging up relics one day at a time. Always looking for fellow detectorist to go out with and enjoy this hobby. Been swinging a coil going on 24 years now this year and loving every minute of it.

Everyone is just one swing away from finding that one target to change your whole life

Also I want to thank all my great friends on here for keeping me going through all these years. Couldn't do it without yall.

"There has been some recent debate about whether nest building is a learned or instinctive behavior. It is primarily instinctive, but it has been clearly shown that birds that build intricate nests, like the group called weavers, learn and become better nest builders over time."

I would agree. "Instinct" is a brilliant form of intelligence, in that it not only enables, but it also ensures, that every individual, of every species, will always do what is right or correct for an individual of that species to do in any given situation. Unless of course that individual is born with a significant brain defect, or suffers a significant brain injury later in it's life. We homo sapiens are the only species we are aware of on Earth who have brains large enough, and complex enough, that we are no longer controlled or restrained by our "instinct", or as we also commonly call it our "self -conscious". We homo sapiens will often do things which we instinctively know are not correct or right for an individual of our species to do in a given situation. This I believe is where we get our sense of "right" and "wrong", and "good' and "evil". This is also where we get our feelings of guilt, remorse, inferiority complexes and self loathing. All the other species on Earth still exist in a figurative "Garden of Eden", where everything they need for their survival and sustenance are available to them in their environment, and they never do "wrong" or "evil", nor are even aware of such concepts as we homo sapiens are. We homo sapiens however have evolved beyond our basic instincts, and have forever lost our place in this figurative "Garden of Eden".

I'm pretty sure the birds use a secret handshake to pass off blueprints to one another. Birds are sneaky like that!

Scientists have recovered Microchips while doing research on bird carcasses. Encryption on some of the microchips were instructions on nest building, aerial maneuvers, mating rituals, and how to build a proper fire.
