I like wood stocks. Would like to get a Mauser 98. Love those old boltt actions.

Yeah, hb I was on the black syenthic stock till the last minute. I shout the m14 when I first was drafted and it was walnut. It a weapon I will be proud to hand down to my son. And he's familiar with then since he's career navy.

Savage 170? That was/is not an uncommon occurrence.
You'll want a gunsmith that has repaired/modified one or preferably more. NOT a gunsmith who has not.
Multiple issues with multiple rifles makes knowing what yours is fighting hard to tell. Lifter?Ejector? Speed of it being cycled? Slide lock?

Telling a feeding from ejecting issue from each other can be tricky as they are related.
Trigger group is suspect on that model too , with one guy drilling and tapping the forward part of trigger guard with a set screw added to get the lift raised closer to the cartridge stop to reduce the too great of gap... Not for the faint of heart ....Or non gunsmith engineers really.

IMG_8728.jpg I like his foot design for this series of tables. We have never used a screw or nail in any of our designs. This has forced us to hone our jointing skills to perfection. Looks like I'll be applying a lot of finish when I get home.

Bart,

Well done on the coffee tables. The Japanese are masters at wood joinery without nails or screws it's probably worth doing some research on their methods.

Bart,

I can't post any commercial links on the thread....but if you do a search on Lee Valley Tools they have quite a nice selection of Japanese saws and tools.

They're based in Canada and have been selling Japanese tools for 30 years or more.

Regards + HH

Bill
