Dave,

Good move on the gift odds are that'll open other doors for you in the future.

Anti...

I THINK... your item is from 1904-5...

Sears catalog item...

Sold as good luck charm.

That was a great gesture Dave. On that note I found a officers dress hat medallion at one of my places. It turns out to be around WW2. I returned it to him even though it was the only good find that day. I felt good about it too. bill is right, it sure helps the permission relationship.

Thanks very much for the congrats Bill & rook and for the info ARC.

The new owners are leaning towards it being a high class piece of jewelry, that was originally plated in gold and was worn with distinction by a 'Victorian Period' grandmother in the home. :laughing7:

ARC, I don't think I'll mention your theory about it possibly being a Sears Roebuck 'Good Luck' charm.

We have some chicken legs marinating for supper. Looked around the crisper and there's an overlooked cauliflower which will get baked in the oven. I'll slice up some cukes from the garden and do some of my standby cottage fries in the air fryer.

Well actually... I think it was part of a fob.

Which was sold in the SR catalog.

So its not like "hokie" kinda of thing... but really cool imo.

Well I got that nasty lawn chore done today.
The chickens were enjoying the freedom of the place, well until the Mrs opened the backdoor and we had 5 chickens going in many directions.
Max chased the one around a tree, then another, while we were yelling, then across the yard, behind the barn.
We got him and lost the chickens for a bit. Wife found 3 up the road, then the she/he was over the bank.
Missing was Sis the one he chased, and we looked and looked.
Finally the wife called she spotted her standing like a statue under a spruce tree on a small rocky ridge 150ft from the barn.
So walking up and down the slopes (while she was standing there watching me probably) tuckered me out.
Dog in the dog house with owners-tonight.

Jim,

The joys of the farm life....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

I think Max is just a tad jealous when we pay attention to the chickens.
He loves the reaction time, one little move and they flee, game on,- he thinks.

Had a friend who wanted a coin mounted like mine....so I hooked him up with my jewler. He remounted this atocha coin in a custom bezel similar to mine. The red stone piece is my original design.....you can see his piece is very similar !!

Nothing worse than having the prey drive gene coming out. It'll just take a while for him to realize they're part of the pack.
He'll be 6yrs old soon and the cats are getting to know/trust him finally.

Best of luck today, hope you get a keeper.

Thanks Jim, heading back north of Pickering.

Chickens are happy when:

They run to greet you when you show up.
They’re happy when they have access to run outside, peck at the ground, take a dust bathe, hunt for worms and bugs, eat grass and have plenty of food and fresh water and a nice warm place to roost at night and a nest box to lay eggs in.
They’re free from predators, have enough room to run around in.
They have an appropriate hen to Rooster ratio.
They’re not bullied or killed by other chickens.
They’re healthy and well taken care of.
