The Easter ham was as ever , perfect.

A particular Easter I remember.

My Armor unit was on 2 week rotation at the Fulda Gap, near Czech Border......about -10 for the week. (any 13th tankers here?) httpiragreen.compubmediacatalogproduct1-1-c0763-y.jpg
As PS, I carried a 12 ga (so I brought my own ammo)
took my CRats and put them on the ground by the tank...
at night, when the wild hogs came in, shot 4 of them....these hogs had been eating in the sweet potato fields around us...
had a bunch o southern boyz in the unit, so asked them to cook em up...

wood fire, sweet hog, and sweet potatoes .....

best Easter Ham (hog) dinner ever......

Cheers!

It shall be done..Semper Paratus

no CRats were harmed in the making of this post!
Pretty bad when you looked forward to drawing Beanies and Weinies, lifer bars, or John Wayne cookies ....
Worse case: LeRP's....I dont think the hogs would be attracted to those!

Gee ARC hope all is well down there, heard on our news that 350 homes have been evacuated because of the waste water containment dam. 6 meters high, but not toxic? :icon_scratch::tongue3:

Have 550 lbs of organic layer, 12 litres of maple syrup, a few dozen eggs, 10 lbs of nuts, Jim-Jim Bars (treats), figs, bubbly, chips......
Going for the annual Easter breakfast at the farm, small event, really personal.
There will be the egg game-see who wins hitting each others egg.
All great fun-great folks-I'm sure the Mrs car is going to be complaining with the load. (spring break up the roads are going to be rough)

Return load won't be a heavy but will be many items as well.
Oh the frozen blueberry cheese cake, croissants that will be thawed out and baked fresh, ketch up, seed potatoes, nitrate free bacon, fresh lettuce greens, yogurts, cheese.

It seems that great foods really makes our world a better place.
I hear the Grandmother made up a European dessert treat---Jimmy is salivating already---

Sounds like a really fun holiday.

I'm sitting here, all alone, with leftovers for my "Easter Dinner".

Envious. :(

I'm back!

Unfortunately, both house sites were a bust. The 1900 house site was turned into a dumping ground for farm projects, and I detected for hours at the 1810s house site before I realized that it was all fill dirt. At least in the fill dirt, I found an object that might be a flat button, but I don't see where it ever had a shank. I'll have to get a picture later.

I did manage to find a dumpsite from the 1900s, through the 1920s era, and found multiple pieces of crockery, pottery, plates, bowls, cups, bottles, etc. I brought a bunch of stuff home, and once again, more pics tomorrow.

I got a surprise when I dug this sherd up. It belongs to a salt crock, circa 1900. The swastika was used as a good luck and peace symbol before the nazis stole it. It was somewhat common to find charms, crocks, and jewelry to be made into swastikas at this time.

This wasn't the only embossed bottle found, but it was the cleanest.

Unfortunately I didn't find this Civil War era 9 sided inkwell in the pit. I did get it for the nice price of $10 though. The neck is supposed to be "broken" as that's how ink bottles of the period were typically made before better methods of mouth making were found.

Well....it is a RCT chat. Soooo....I'd like to pose a question of any here who can shed any light.

I'm looking for people who have gone from an AT-Pro to an AT-Max.

Things I want to know:
1. Is it much heavier?
2. What is gained by the upgrade?
3. Has it been worth the effort?
4. How does the extra things running on the batteries fair regarding battery life?
5. Does the transmitting of the signal to the headphones ever get in the way?

Feel free to add any and all comments as I'm seriously thinking about making the change.

Thank you folks!

Happy Easter!

Nice finds Rusty! You'll have to come up to NE Ohio sometime and do some digging. I've got plenty of sites and there are A LOT more still waiting to be discovered.

Pepperj I've got a question for you,

So when you are field hunting do you usually just stick to the "hot spot" in the immediate area of the homesite that you found (usually an area of 1/2 to 1 acre in my experience) or do you grid up more of the field? Usually I just got until I stop finding things but I've heard of people who found random drops far away from anything and I was just wondering do you have any tips or advice on this?

I'm just the Simplex guy... I've got nothing.

Thanks guys. But I'm not trying to start another type of "roll call". I appreciate that someone is "listening" and taking time out of their day to let me know. But, I don't need info from anyone who's never used them. LOL.
