Is is best to metal detect when the soil is wet?

Due to our heavy rain this past week in Northeast Ohio is it a good idea to metal detect?

Its debatable, but I think in all my years doing it, when we lived on our farm growing up hunting Civil War relics during the summer we’d get times where we’d get very little, and as soon as it rained we went over the same spots, and those crappy signals were now seemingly amplified and sounded so much better. People think it’s crazy, but the rain almost seems to put a halo effect on ferrous, non ferrous targets. I’d say it’s not a bad idea[emoji23] not unless that rain caused your area to be extremely hot and muggy. Which if you’re in Ohio it should be fairly nice outside. As far as water goes, it can’t hurt, the only time you’ll have to worry about your detector is if you drop the control box/screen into water.
