I remember something about Perseverance dropping off a
container of some type, and that it would be used as a
spot to drop off soil samples, and they would be picked
up at a later date by another rover, and then sent back
to Earth.

Don't know if this is that component, or not.

now that you said that :coffee2: I think you may be right . Though it's odd they seem to be in the dark on the subject.
Hopefully it didn't Drop off too early
