We lost another one of our retired Firefighters recently. Bill Smith lived in Alabama but worked his career with the Fire Dept. in Dekalb County Georgia. He came on in the Dept. right after I did in either 1980 or early in 1981. He went on to make Bn. Chief before he retired. I believe he was working again in the Fire Service in Baldwin County, Alabama when he recently died drowning attempting to rescue a swimmer in distress in the Fort Morgan area. Bill was a great guy and a Fireman's Fireman. He lost his life doing what he loved most, serving his fellow man. Please keep Bill and his family in your prayers during this difficult time.
